Oprah Wed May 12- TG Children & Family

Post by Penny T »

I just got this from the PFLAG Mailing list:
(edited for content)

> Set your TV's to record the Oprah Show on Wed., May 12, because the topic will be about young self-identified transgendered children. Our Boulder chapter members, Karen and Eric Boelts along with their two children, Hal and mma, will share their story of discovering as a family what it means to
have a transgendered child. Hal came out to his family when he was six years old<snip>

Penny,

Thank you once again. I just watched Oprah and saw a show about TG's which, in my opinion was done with a lot of class and with no negative attitude. As Oprah said when it was ending, I do hope many parents of kids who feel this way saw this show and develop a different attitude towards the problem. I wish my parents had a show like this to watch when I was young.

Thanks again.

I only was able to catch the end of it but from what I saw I did like it. I very much agree that if a show like this had been on when I was younger I would have come out to my parents a lot sooner. I was happy for the father that is now going to buy dolls for his son who is showing a TG side.

I did get to catch abit of the show but was disappointed when Oprah herself made the mistake of calling it "wrong sex" as opposed to opposite gender.
There is a difference between the two and I was dissappointed at the choice in wording but I do agree that the show brought the issues about in a dignified manor.
