Jerry Springer Question...

Post by Gardenia_SO »

OK, folks, I was watching Jerry Springer the other day (I'm off from work this week and it's one of my guilty pleasures :) ), and one segment featured a guy who wanted to reveal a secret to his girlfriend. The guy walks into the stage wearing a cowboy hat and typical western garb, but when prompted, he took his shirt and jeans off to reveal a frilly bra/panty set. He started running around the stage and through the audience and acting generally acting like a fool.

I know that most of the stuff on that show is over the top and probably fake, and chances are that this guy was an actor or someone who just wanted a free trip to Chicago. However, I couldn't help but wonder--how many CDs would choose a public forum to "out" themselves to their loved ones, let alone national television? It just seemed odd.

The other thing that tipped me off is that he had a moustache. I haven't seen any moustaches on any "real" CDs, including my BF.

I'm curious about your thoughts about the whole Jerry Springer thing and whether or not you think this guy was a fake or could be the real deal.

Gardenia, the guy could have been real, as there are some guys that crave attention and or humiliation. for example, some CDs/TVs wear some of the most outrageous outfits just for the attention. Too each his own.

I doubt, however, if this was his original coming out to his GF, if she was his GF. I find it hard to imagine many CDs that would come out to a loved one in a public forum, unless the CD is one of the most insensitive people there is, because doing so means you are not thinking of your loved one's feelings.

As for having a mustache, I had one for many years. Some CDs have full beards even. Facial hair, or the lack thereof is not a prerequisite, because many of us do not have the need to pass as a woman, but merely have the need to dress enfemme.

I have a big bushy beard at the moment, it's cold this time of year. When I need to dress the hair goes away. Having facial hair is no indication that one is not a CD

Jerry Springer = Trash TV. That should be enough to tell you that what you are watching is little more than an excuse for entertainment (the lowest common denominator therof) and not reality. Yes, there are many who would do anything for their 15 minutes, but if it was real, as Donna said, there was no respect for a SO's feelings, except for making a fool out of her (and himself). Sadly, shows like this only continue to keep us in the sights of public ridicule.

Zippy just shaved off all the mostly-grey beard she's been wearing on a full-time basis (except for Tri-Ess meeting weekends) for the last many years. Facial hair is absolutely NO basis for spotting TV/CD/TG people. Unless of course you consider neatly-trimmed and shaped eyebrows.

And yup, I saw that episode. I used to watch Springer for total laughs on a regular basis. There's no other way I could possibly justify watching it.
