I'd say that a crossdresser liking the same clothes as an SO they are in a loving relationship says something about something. After all girls like to wear their girlfriends clothes, at least my daughters do. So if your husband likes your dress and gets one like it that is probably some sort of positive something, just as many married people over time actually start to look a bit like each other in undefinable ways.
As for the imitating the female form as a form of flatery the trouble here is I think sometimes CDers, espicially when it is a fetishistic type of CDing, may be imitating some sort of image or illusion rather than real women, and this may cause resentment and hurt.
