At the age of about 10 I was caught by my Mum wearing my sisters’ school blouse, to be truthful I put it on by mistake and mum gave me a right royal telling off for doing it saying ‘If I catch you again I will send you to school in it” . That was over 40 years ago and I have NEVER forgotten it. Over the intervening years I rummaged through my Mums drawers always wondering but never daring to put anything on and from my few girlfriends I managed to ‘borrow’ the occasional item of underwear. Relationships came and went and I suddenly met the love of my life and lost the urge to dress for more than 10 years. As my 50th. Birthday came near I suddenly wanted, perhaps needed to dress again and started to go shopping for undies ‘for my wife!’. Still deeply closeted I would raid the charity bags and dress when I was alone. Finding the help and support I needed in chat rooms I drifted further away from family and friends. My wife noticed of course and last year I finally came out to her. She gave me my name of Kimberly and when we are out together we buy things for ‘Kim’ I realise I am lucky to have her by my side.
I am a happily married heterosexual cross-dresser. My lovely wife tolerates but still doesn’t really understand why I do it and I have stopped trying to work out why I love dressing so much myself.

Something you said resonated with me. My history is similar to yours in spirit if not details. For most of my adult life the urge to dress was there but in the background and I didn't act on it that much. Then at about age 50 it suddenly got far stronger. I have often thought it had something to do with various changes going on in my life at the time but maybe it was just age related.
