I regret that I waited until almost age fifty to get my ears pierced. Should have done it younger. So I would recommend it IF you won't get too much grief from wife, boss, church, etc.
I AM my own hot girlfriend.

Dear Martina;

I'm this close >. Someone suggested clip-ons. Been there, done that; I even have a cute pair of the old fashion screw on types, which feels like I'm permanently attaching my ears to my head. rotf :lol: . I think that when it's done, and everyone accepts this, well then... I did write a book on cd'ing, but some feel that I dress up like a for costume festival. They don't want to accept that I'm a cd, so they say that it's for show. I may even use that for an excuse, after all, I can always say that it's to promote my book. In my heart though, I would feel so happy that I'm the girl that I always wanted to be. (It might work).
Funny, at one time I did everything to try and hide my book, now it's back to hiding what I truly desire.

Melissa (the frightened one).

Hi Melissa,
-wel- to the forum, with regard to ear piercing I am 70 years young and about 6 months ago I was passing a tattoo and piercing shop and before I realised it I was in there saying pierce both please. I do not go out dressed or very rarely but the only comment has been from a couple of lady friends asking where I buy my earrings from. Keep them discreet, not too gaudy and they are not noticed.
Get them pierced, you will find such a variety available and lots of fun to go shopping for them. My favourite happening is when the shop assistant says "Oh she will love them" I normally reply she won't get the chance they are mine".
Go for it
Hugs

You are so cute Joanne ^^_|| . Believe it or not when my wife and I shop for clothes, my wife always says that it's for me. Some reactions we get is precious. At times they gave us an instant discount. If pierced ears will get this kind of attention then I'm in. I was looking over some sets and they are so adorable, I felt like buying them all.

Want to go shopping one day? You sound like so much fun.

Once you've got a book out there on CDing, you've made the whole thing into part of your identity. I don't recommend you pretend it's just for show or publicity or whatever. Then you'll have to go on lying about it for the rest of your life - no good.

On the other hand, I do sympathize with your conflicts about being seen in public. I've never been out and understand the fear all too well. And I live in London, which is pretty liberal, as opposed to where you live - which would appear to be out and out conservative.

Hi Joanne;

I didn't notice that you were from U.K. I guess that going shopping is out of the question for now anyway. We can always talk about it on line.

Hello Melissa, Glad to hear about your ear anxiety. What! So rude of me!

No actually I, too, am a piercing chicken and I am glad to know that I am not alone. Same reasons as yourself, reaction of family and close friends.

But, Martina is right (she usually is). In reality nobody will give you a lot of greif about it, especially if you have a nicely prepared quip to parry a remark. Still, it is hard to take that plunge into the deep end.

So, lets see who goes for it first.

Kelly.

Hi Kelly;

It's so nice to hear when we are not alone in an endeavor. Another excuse I thought of is 'Since most men are doing this, why not'.
Then, let's say you are married with children for example, your wife could say "your dad is going senile, men go through something like this around this age". or "It's a challenge, he is raising $ for save the mosquito."

Or how about: "Is that all you have to do, checking out my body?" This would put an embarrassing end to the inquiry.
