Hi all, my name is Chris. I am 46 and have been dressing off and on since I was 12. Recently I have been seeing a councilor and trying to come to grips with dressing. A lot has changed for me emotionally in the last month and I finally worked up the courage to become a member here and begin talking to others like me. I don't know where this is all going, but I do know that I cannot simply go back to the way things were so one must forge ahead. I feel like I need someone close to me to just put their arms around me and just say that I am ok but I just don't have anyone I can trust at this point except for the councilor. It's a hard road to go this alone.

Hi Chris
Welcome to the forum. Fear not - we are all like you and only differ as to degree. You have found what I consider one of the friendliest place on the internet.
Like you I have been dressing from an early age. I have I think come to terms with it and with age comes confidence and understanding. Please read through the posts in the forum that interest you. I think you will find someone here has been where you are now and has posted about it.
I personally see this as a gift not a problem and I hope in time you will too.
Best wishes

Hi Chris,
First, welcome to the forum.
Second, I think you're probably feeling the same as many of us did when we first joined. I was scared out of my wits, and my heart was racing a mile a minute! I've grown quite a bit from listening and talking to the people here.
The important thing to remember, is that you're NOT alone. Just look at the members here. We're from all walks of life.
I'm sure you'll like it here.
Hugs,
Kyra

Hi Chris and welcome!
I do understand, I am 47 and have been CDing on and off since I was about 13-14. I had a long run in my 20's and did not realize it for what it was. I now know this is part of who I am and have to come to an understanding of how it affects my life. I love to dress and feel feminine. Recently I have gone the whole 9 yards and transformed with everything, from a wig to shoes. It feels right!!!
I am alone, except for this forum. My Sisters here will and do listen to me and give advice and an ear. But at home I am alone as I can not tell of who Erica is. NO one would understand so I am on my own as to friends here or a spouse understanding either.
I hope we could become friends and share this wonderful journey and be as happy as we can be.
Hugs,
Erica
