YANM

Post by Ahzz »

Hmmm, this would be the first time i've said anything publicly, so here goes....

Been doing it since age 11.
Married.(she knows and seems fine, actually makes bedroom fun more interesting at times.)
an ex-goth.
Know several other CDs in Dallas, and can talk to them about this a bit.
and i'm an insomniac tonight.
oh yeah, busy as hell. closing on a house, and only 4 more days to go to read 3 years as an independant IT contractor (officially that is).

What do I do for a living? well, pretty much anything and everything that involves computers. I've been an admin, a project manager, a programmer, a DBA, a network engineer, high availability systems engineer, Admins panic support, management translator( if you have been in a big corp, you know what I mean) webmaster(sucked at it), and ISP/ASP business owner/operator just to name the few roles that I can think of right now.

Curently, trying to find enough customers to fill in for a deadbeat client that owes me several months of pay. Getting a house is actually a downgrade from my curent place (so far as expence goes).

How did I find this place? Another board (one of MANY sites i've browsed) pointed this way as a smutt-free place. So I figured, why not.

ok, enough lack of sleep rambling.... *grin*

Hi "No Name",

-wel- to the group. I do wish I had an understanding SO.

As for the rest of your post I guess I can say been there, done that. Been on hiatus from the business for going on 3 years. Not sure if I want to go back to computers or try something else.

Enjoy the forum and, perhaps your SO might join us as well?

Hi O Nameless One! :P

Welcome aboard! 8) This is, indeed, a clean and fun site. You'll find a camaraderie here that's quite startling, considering all the different personalities and divergent opinions of the members. It's what makes this such a great place.

Congrats on your first online, public "outing." I'm very much looking forward to your contributions. Find a name, if you can (it doesn't have to be a girl's name); it'll allow us to "personalize" you a bit better.

Love,
CJ

geeks... invasion!

Post by Ahzz »

Dunno, but I have noticed that this kind of habbit does seem to be a bit more prevalent amongst geeks than other types. Maybe it's just the fact that geeks are more used to online "anonymous" forums like this. Who knows. It would be an interesting little factoid of statistics though.

Hiya Kid. :)

Welcome to our not quite so little tribe!. As you already know, you are not alone and in fact travel in good company. Need a Name, huh?, How about Dallas? Don't think we have anyone by that name, and it's cool!!!

Not to be rude, but I have to agree, Dallas IS a cheesy name. ;-P Do you relize exactly HOW many people use the name of their city either AS or a part of their online nicknames?! It's about as a bad as going around with the name "bob" or "john". :) There is a reason they call unknowns John and Jane Doe.

Anyways, i'm in no hurry to choose a name. I would have used my common nickname that I have had for over 10 years of online activities, but I've ben trying to let it die out for the last 3 years in order to disassociate it from my professional activities. Maybe it's time to start using it again....
