Greetings to all from Silver Spring, Maryland. Hope I'm doing this properly, as I haven't participated in many of these on line forums on any topic. I am, as they say, a heterosexual cross-dresser-- single, never married, no children. In 1996 I dressed as a cheerleader for Halloween and really got a kick out of it. Didn't dress much after that-- basically once a year to celebrate Halloween until... 2000 when I attended the IFGE convention in Arlington, Virginia. Metro accessible and curiosity got the better of me. I will say that I've been fascinated by CD's and CD'ing for a long time, ever since I was 8 years old at day camp and the campers put on a play where one of the boys was dressed as a girl. Anyhow the convention was a mind blower-- I've attended a few more since then-- but I'll never forget that first one. One of the TS's even showed me a photo of her former male self. I was touched by her showing that much trust in me. Since that convention I joined the Transgender Education Association (support group in the Washington, D.C. area) and get to their meetings on and off. I get out at least several times a month-- either because I'm doing the cheerleader thing for a protest or other specifc event or shopping or going to a wig shop. My dressing style is a blend of hippie, preppy, and "nice girl." Nothing really extreme-- sometimes I just call it "nice girl with a hippie accent." I've bought clothing at vintage shops and conventional stores such as GAP, JC PENNY, Burlington Coat Factory, and HECHTS. I do not go shopping "dressed" all the time; in some locations-- with an abundance of teenagers and young men-- that would be foolhardy. I am a telephone fundraiser for a non profit peace group and have been writing about music for over 25 years on a free lance basis. Well, that's the intro. Best wishes for the holiday season to everyone. Peace-- Kendra Lynn.

Hi Kendra--
That's quite a resume you have going. What grabs our attention can be slight--that one incident at camp, for instance. Picking and choosing where you're going to go out is always good practice. Welcome to this forum!

Hi Kendra Lynn,
~
Welcome to the forum
- from what you, DonnaT and Sharon Rose have to say about the TGEA, it sounds like a really fine organization of many interesting and supportive people - I think I'm becoming a bit envious
I'll be looking forward to learning more about 'your life', and especially about your interest in music
