For those of you that are or aren't familiar with this recently released book by Helen Boyd. Here is the official website.

Check out the review in the Villiage Voice also.

There is also a group on yahoo for fans of the book to communicate with Helen and each other.

Here's to a great book

Hi Lefty,

Have you read it? I'm waiting to hear a review from someone I know who's read it--basically from anyone on this forum, I guess. :)

Love,
CJ

I saw this at Borders less than an hour ago . . . umm . . . it seems to be a strictly CD thing -- I could be wrong. But I decided not to buy it. (doesn't mean its not a good book, its just I have to excited about a book to read it and the book and I didn't "click!" 8) )

Alexandra,

If you just read The Village Voice review of the book , you can see that BOTH the author and her husband push the gender bender thing all the time and are very TG. It is not strictly a crossdressing thing but it does concentrate on her discovery, fears and acceptance of many parts of CDing in regards to her husband.

She is a very cool person too!

Plus...our own new mommy Kathy is mentioned ( I know that she was very excited about being included in this project).

I think it is worth checking out from an SO's point of veiw..the book is very popular among many women in some of the SO/WIVES only forums.

From the TG/CD standpoint..well I guess it would be up to the individual on whether or not the subject/story from a WIFE/SO's perspective would be of interest.

I think the book is well worth purchasing...from my standpoint of course...

Lefty, from the Village Voice review:

"Ironically, as the inspiration (and cover girl) of a cross-dressing book, Betty has gradually shed that identity, and considers herself transgendered: "Part of that is because I don't identify with many cross-dressers; they don't always feel like my community. But being trans means I am free of all the other bubbles labels. It doesn't pin me down, it allows me to be me; I'm still grappling with my gender, considering if I want to make changes to my body. I am still discovering who my chick self is."

Now that's interesting . . . sounds a bit like me . . .

I had initally gone to check for "Man in the Red Velvet Dress" but didn't see it so perhaps my disappointment clouded my looksie at the other book. My knee was hurting too, but that's another story!

Hi Alexandra,

The cursing part sounded like you. :: ruuuuuuuuuns ::

I was kidding!!! I've never read anywhere you saying anything that had a bad/adult word in it.

The real reason I wrote here was to find out about your knee! Come on... no teasers allowed zone. I just got the no teaser zone permit!

LOL! But, if somebody pulled a Big Brother thing on me, like hindering my right to take pictures of federal buildings you might find me using those words!!!!

I injured my leg while playing 5 on 5 basketball -- parents vs kids at the school basketball program -- I was running, jumping, stealing, hustling and rebounding -- all the things I told my kid to do over the past few months so I figured I better do the same . . . you know, be like Mike . . . well even Mike had to hang up his shoes (and bat too.) eventually.

I read Helen's book and it is interesting. It does provide insight from one woman's point of view.

She does link crossdressing and gender identity to sexuality a lot in the book and she also seems to have an axe to rind with gender support groups like Rennasance and Tri-Ess, which seem to be a bit obsessive to me.

Another thing is if you are wanting to find a book to have your wife/so read to help her deal with this isue, I would not recommend Helen's book at all. It is much to broad based, emcompassing the entire gender spectrum and for a wife/so, who is concerned becuase her man is wearing a dress, this may cause more issues than it solves.

A better book on the subject is "My Husband Wears my Clothes" by Peggy Rudd.
All the best,

Beauty, my gf read Peggy Rudd's Book, "My Husband Wears my Clothes."

But "My Husband Betty" looks interesting as well. Its always nice to get more than one person's perspective.
