Kilts are not skirts.

It was the jist of the story that caught my interest. I went back and found the original letter, and the man said he, indeed wore skirts.
As for kilts not being skirts, that's true. But they do afford folks like me who could not pass in public, to wear a skirtlike garment out and about without fear or ridicule.
