I just read about this in USA Today. The setting is England in the 1660s. It is against the law for women to appear in the theater, and Billy Crudup is an actor famed for his performances as a female. Claire Danes is his dresser, and wants to perform. Suddenly, King Charles II strikes down the law, and their positions are reversed. It's a romantic comedy in the vein of "Shakespeare in Love".
