Hey Lorna- please tell me what happened on the show. I've read about this tragedy since it happened. I'm very interested in what they had to say. Thanks

and if I may say so, your photos/avatars are divine....

I caught part of the show. There where a few different stories form young trangenders also included in the story. The Gwen story is horendas is because these group of teens who had sex with Gwen and later found out that Gwen is in fact a boy that killed her not in any fear of being killers but being thought as being Gay. We have the show at the station I work at and I should copy it to tape if anyone wants a copy of that show I could "make a anouther copy" for you as well and send it to you.

Thanks hon!! :)

Anyway, here is a quick recap: It was a very informative source to anyone not familiar with the Gwen Araujo story. But if you're familiar with the story then there was not too much that would have been new. But Montel himself even took the time to clarify to the audience & the viewers the definition of the term transgender. Rock on, Montel!! =D>

Gwen's uncle sat in the front row in the audience, as did a prosecuting attorney who was assigned to the murder case. She spoke about how the case had to go to trial again because of a hung jury & whatnot... she also stated how the boys were more worried about 'being considered gay' than being MURDERERS. They both passionately expressed how she was a human being and did not deserve to die, simply for wanting to live as she chose.

Montel himself was shocked when the prosecuting attorney revealed that 2 of the assailants were found guilty of second degree murder. :? He asked the attorney, "Does that lesser charge mean that a transgender person is somehow less than human?" He even mentioned how brass knuckes were used in her beating death. :?

I totally agree, hon!! What really shocked me was the fact the 4 boys had more issues with "being considered gay" than they did with being MURDERERS. Ugh. :?

What kind of a society do we live in where it's considered better to be a MURDERER, than to be only possibly suspected by a few idiotic friends & neighbors of "being gay"?

"I would rather KILL an innocent human being & go to jail than have a few people in my small town ' think I'm gay'." DAMMIT!!! This is the path those 4 boys chose to take. And this is what is WRONG with our society! And this is why I fear this country is headed back to the pre-Stonewall days! bla*bla*bla

Thank you so much, Lorna- I agree totally- Thankfully these issues are being talked about openly, even if it's after the fact.

Jessie- Thanks- getting my mail is a little complicated right now. Otherwise, I'd take you up on that offer.

And Fremont's not a small town, it's part of the San Francisco Bay suburbs.

Gwen's mother had an op-ed piece about "Life after Gwen" in today's SF Chronicle.

May they rot in hell...

Thanks a lot Jesse. It may be a good idea to hold onto a copy for anyone who might later be interested. Very kind of you to go through the trouble.
