A support group and webpage where I live

I live in Humboldt County, California.
We have a new group for the transgendered that meets once-a-week.
This may change over time as well as the location.

We originally started out with just three of us and a therapist who's focus is on gender and sexuality.
It took several months but we finally have an influx of new members...
2 couples, 6 single members.
It's wonderful because we have such a wide variety of ages and genders.
The ages range from 20's to one in their 70's.
We have M2F, F2M, TS, and a mix of others like me who are inbetween right now.
It's been very helpful and healthy to finally find people in the flesh like me! Especially with my divorce still going on.
I truly wish this same wonderful support for all of you out there.
If you don't have a group in your area, you might find a therapist who would help start one. Ours really helps in areas of screening potential members and providing feedback.
Alas, she'll be leaving us in the near future.
We'll be out in the cold cruel world all by ourselves

I attended with every intention of just being a layperson who was just attending like any other interested person after sunday worship but I caught sight of a teenage male bodied boy whom I recognized from the youth group as being quiet ,shy and as I had suspected ,a questioning trans MTF sitting there with parents in tow and I had a dillema. I could sit there while other members asked curiosity questions of the guest speaker (FTM minister from another congregation) or I could speak up and identify myself so that if that family was feeling awkward at least they knew they were not alone. I spoke up and asked for a support group to be formed for families of trans people identifying myself as a family member of a transperson. After the workshop many people from the congregation came over to shake my hand and a teenage girl from the youth group (a GLBTQQ advocate) took my e-mail address so that we could start a group. I might be in touch if they ask me to facilitate the group as I'm thinking they probably will seeing that I am so open and outspoken. I know how difficult it was when I was looking for a group for support on the internet let alone a face to face group and if I can make the search just that much easier for one family then in my opinion it's definately worth it. The group will be for emotional support and open to any family, friends, partners or spouse of anyone under the trans umbrella. It's difficult to find a face 2 face support group let alone if they had to go looking for a specific group like FTM,MTF, CDer, Bigender, Intersex or genderqueer or a simply stated TG person as my spouse is.
