Another "Pope" joke?

Fred and Charlie worked together, Fred had a "hair lip" and Charlie was cripple from birth. They however took a European vacation together, when they returned their cohorts gathered around to hear about the trip.
"Well," said Fred first we went to London, "How'd that go" they were asked.
"Well" Fred said," I wanted to visit Big Ben but Charlie could not go up the stairs, he's a cripple you know!" "We did go to Paris to see the Eiffle Tower, but could not because of Charlie, he's a cripple you know, so we moved on to Rome." "Oh, was that fun, how'd that go?" they asked, "Well, we did get to the Vatican and saw the Pope!" "Wow how that go," they asked. "Well it was interesting, the Pope came up to Charlie, looked him over, reached out and took his crutches from him and..." Excitement filled the room "WOW! did he walk? what happened??"
"Well." replied Fred, " He fell on his backside - he's a cripple you know!"
