My eldest daughter is blonde. One day a friend asked me if all the blonde jokes around bothered her. I got to thinking about this and asked her. Her reply was priceless:


"Yeah daddy they bother me a little. Why do you ask? Don't jokes about fat old men bother you?"

I am a blonde and proud of it. Do the blonde jokes bother me - no.

To me a joke is a joke and if I can't laugh at it then something is wrong. I have more important things to do than carry a chip on my shoulder and wait for some joke to "knock it off" so I can get mad or be hurt.

If we can't laugh at ourselves then we don't have the right to laugh at others.

If I wasn't blone then I couldn't blame my dumb actions on a "blonde moments". Lord knows I have a lot of the "blonde moments".

I have a daughter in law whose hair is as black as can be. Before I met her my son told me "Her hair is black, but she is a blonde." After meeting her and spending some time with them, I agree she is a "blonde".

Pround to be blonde cause there are so many good jokes about me.

Ethnic jokes, blond jokes, and gender jokes all have the potential to hurt people. The problem is that there are those who start to believe that the joke is true about everyone in the group.

Before I retired, we had a sensitivity training regarding such jokes. We were told - in no uncertain terms - that we were not to be telling such jokes a risk of losing our jobs. In fact, the only ethnic jokes that would be permitted were Hittite jokes because the Hittites - as a group of people - are extinct and therefore no one would be offended.

So there were these two Hittites, "Ole and Lena ..."

I thought the two blond Hittites were Stosh and Vito......
