It was a hot and dusty day, so the Lone Ranger thought he have a few drinks, he tied Silver up to the hitching rail outside the saloon, leaving Tonto to see to the horses’ needs.
The Lone Ranger was on his second drink when Tonto signaled to him through the batwing doors, and on the Lone Ranger going outside, Tonto told him that Silver was feeling the heat badly.
The Lone Ranger thought about it for a bit then said to Tonto,” You run as swift as a deer, so you run in circles around Silver and that’ll create a breeze for him and cool him down.”
So the obedient and faithful Tonto began running swiftly in circles around Silver.
The Lone Ranger returned to the bar and shortly after the Sheriff came in and asked, ‘ Is that your horse out there tied up to the rail?”
LR replied, ”It sure is sheriff.”
The Sheriff said, “Well didja know ya left ya injun running?”
