How much for just the hat?

Farmer drives up to a house in eastern Oklahoma. He gets reluctantly out of his car and approaches the front door of the house, and knocks.

The door is opened by a kid of about 9 or so, who says, "Well hello Mr. Arthur"

"Hi, er, Jody isn't it? Is you Pa at home?

"No sir, Mr. Arthur. He aint here right now."

"Well, OK." The farmer scuffs his foot in the dirt off the steps, then making up his mind, asks about the boy's mother.

"Well, no, Mr. Arthur, she ain't to home neither", explained the boy.

Hmmmm", temporizes the famer, "Well how about your brother Greg?"

"No sir, right now he's out on a class trip with the basketball team."

"Well, OK", says the famer, frowning.

The lad, desiring to be helpful, asks "Is there somethin' I can help you with? I know where Pa keeps most of his tools if your a'needin' to borrowy anything! Or, I can give them a message!"

The famer, looks at the kid, and says, "Well maybe you can tell your Pa or your brother Greg that I need talk to them about Greg gettin' my daughter Josie in a family way!"

The boy looks wise, and says, "Well, you will need to talk to Pa about that. I don't know what he'd figure on gettin for Greg, but I can tell you he gets $75 for the services of the bull, and $50 dollars for the boar."
