GenderPAC and NTAC -- the floor's yours!

Post by Alexandra »

I'm an equal-opportunity inquirer!

GenderPAC and NTAC -- anybody have any comments?

Keep in mind these are organizations that primarily deal with molding our future and public education rather than individual solutions -- am I right?

They are also primarily organizations with roots in trangenderism although they will actively advocate for CDs (even though some of it is due to the "riding the coat tail effect"). I did notice there is some grumbling from within GenderPAC about the direction of that group (they say its expanding its focus beyond transgenderism).

The floor's yours for comments and polite bashing!

These are advocacy groups for TG people.

These are not support groups for heterosexual CD's and their wives.

Do you have information about successful working support groups that offered support to both the gay/lesbian and hetero sexual communities together and regardless of identifying as TS/TG/or CD?

That would be of interest to me because that's the service that triess is providing, support and that is what I was looking for when I found them.

I understand the purpose of these advocacy groups. They are great links if any of us should ever need them, thank you for posting.

Lefty,

Some time ago I contacted several local organizations (I'm not sure now if they had any afflixation with any national organization) and the ones that responded back to me seemed to offer support to couples and individuals without inquiring about my "status". Since I was interested in the political aspects, NTAC came up more than once. I've no real way of knowing how helpful these people would be/are.

Honesty, if a couple were to ask me (outside of this forum) for "relationship" help right now I'd probably recommend them to come here (CD-F.com) and let them read the views of everyone and allow them to chart their own course without my saying anything about Tri-Ess (or any other organization) one way or another.

Beauty,

Good question re: GenderPAC.

I've been to the NTAC site a number of times, and last week I hit the site again and spent some time there.

My concern is an apparent "lack of activity" going on at that website. Of course, this is like judging a book by its cover. However, there were some quite useful links, including this one:

http://www.transgenderlaw.org/

As for GenderPAC, I know very little except that there has been quite a few positive comments made about it.

Hi Alexandra,

Ah! I remember them now. You're right. Their site isn't updated too often.

NTAC is very active. Very Alexandra'ish. :)
