1) I raced bicycles for 10 years and made it to national level (cat 2)
2) I love skiing and mountain biking
3) I work out at golds about 3x/week
4) I'm married with 3 wonderful children
5) I'm a crack shot with pistols and rifles - my dad gave me my first 22 when I was 9
6) I'm a tool guy and do all sorts of jobs around the house
7) I work for a big defense contractor and boss around former colonels and marine corps infantry officers I love camping and fly fishing
9) I love stiletto heels and lace thigh highs - oops! I meant hiking boots
10) I'm a Redskins fan
1) Music freak. I own over 1000 CDs, hours upon hours of Grateful Dead and Phish shows on tape, a few pieces of vinyl, and countless MP3 and AAC files on the computer.
2) Musician. Kind of related to the above, but meh. I've played guitar in rock bands and fiddle in bluegrass groups.
3) Adventurer. The first time I ever got on a plane, I jumped out of it. At 15,000 feet.
4) Loyal Worker. I've only ever had one job my entire life. Well, I guess technically not one job, but I worked for the same company from the time I was 16 until July of this year (just over ten years).
5) Beer and Wine Snob. Life's too short to drink cheap. Microbreweries and small wineries make my drinking life go round. I won't touch a Bud or Miller with a ten foot pole and the lightest wine I'll consume is a German Riesling. Favorite styles and grapes include Brown Ale, Stout, Hefeweizen, Shiraz, and Pinot Noir.
6) Cooking Fiend. I love to cook for myself and especially for others. I make a killer chili and grilled quesadillas. I also can make you a decent margarita.
7) Automobile Watcher. I love cars and even get into the occasional auto race. My consciousness tells me to buy American but my hippie instincts force me to go with Volkswagen or Subaru.
8 ) Sports Fan. I love baseball, and have ever since I played Little League as a kid. Ozzie Smith was my inspiration when I played shortstop and as a result the St Louis Cardinals are my favorite team of all time. I'm also big on basketball and college football.
9) Visionary. Of sorts. I have this incredibly misguided notion that moving 3,000 miles and focusing on making a career out of writing is actually going to work for me.
10) Life of the Party...after a while. I'm initially very shy and sort of offputting but once I'm comfortable, I love to draw a crowd and can spend hours with people sharing stories and experiences.

- I started taking piano lessons last year, and I'm currently able to play the first movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata".
- I've tried composing a few songs.
- I enjoy trying to solve challenging crosswords, but I get frustrated when trying even the easiest Sudoku puzzles.
- I do daily stretching exercises and my legs are flexible enough to do a front split (Uncomfortable and a little painful, but it's possible!)
- I've never traveled outside the U.S. but I would like to some day.
- I'm a reformed video game addict. When younger I would sometimes play them from waking until after midnight.
- I received one of my birthday wishes. It was "No snow on the ground on my birthday". Having a December birthday made it difficult, but it was finally granted when I moved to this warmer climate.
- I've been slowly overcoming my social anxiety and shyness.
- I'm very scared of driving on icy roads. Years ago I drove on a highway covered with ice, and I pushed the brakes a little too much, resulting in my car spinning around 180 degrees and coming within 12 inches of hitting the cars in front of me.
- And despite that incident, I consider myself non-religious.

4. I have had to have my US passport expanded twice because of all the places I've visited.

6. I like woodworking and try to do small projects whenever possible (now working on a Japanese stairstep chest for a friend who wants to be a geisha!)

10. Earned a brown belt in Hapkido in 1976 under a student of Bong Su Han. Never did anything with it afterwards!
1. I love to write, a fact I admitted to myself too late in life to be able to make it my life's work.
2. I am passionate about every new interest I acquire.

4. The first three singles I ever bought were California Dreamin' (The Mamas and the Papas), Lightning Striking (Lou Christie) and I Fought The Law (And the Law Won) (Bobby Fuller Four).
5. I fell desperately in love for the very first time when I was 6 years old, with a girl in my first grade class named Ellen.
6. I fell desperately in love for the second time when I was 10, when my family and I spent a week in Ireland in the house of a childhood friend of my grandmother's. Her name was Mary, she was 9, and she teased me relentlessly.
7. I fell desperatley in love for the third time when I was 17 with a girl named Carol who dumped the captain of the basketball team of our most bitter rival to date me.
8. I fell desperately in love for the fourth and final time when I was 19. We were married four years later, and remain so today (32 and counting).
9. I was 16 when the Knicks won their first NBA title in 1970, and even now, seeing clips of Willis Reed coming on to the court for Game 7 makes me cry. So does any retelling of Game 5.
10. I am firmly convinced that if we got rid of all 535 members of Congress, went out into the street and picked 535 replacements completely at random, the country would see a major upgrade.
