Well, my Bradford pear tree lasted 25 yrs. Not bad.
A large limb came down this morning, clipping the neighbors house. Doesn't look like too much damage, didn't even break a shingle. But there's a small bow in the roof, so may be some damage underneath. Luckily it's over the porch.
So, the tree needs to come down today. Sure did provide a lot of shade.

Sorry to hear about your pear tree as I enjoy trying to grow fruit trees from seeds. Back in New Orleans I grew a lemon tree from a seed and after 6 or 7 years we had all the lemons anyone could need.
I have a peach tree about 3 years old started from seed and it is doing well.
Now my latest project is an apple seed I started about two months ago and it is a inch high already, "mother nature" is a wonder thing to enjoy.
