Memorial Day

Post by Heather W »

Today is Memorial Day so before we all head out to grill some ribs or whatever and drink maybe one too many beers pause for a second and give thanks for all who gave their lives and limbs so we could enjoy the freedoms we enjoy and sadly take for granted.

Well put Heather =D>

This may be political but I am going to say it anyway. I was 16 when a dear friend's sister's fiancee came home in a box from Vietnam it brought it home all too clearly to me and changed me forever. Thank your for your service and sacrifice Billy. I will never forget you!

It's not the least bit political! It was a fact that many of us became far too familiar with back then.

It was like 1995 or 96 I was in Washington DC for a convention. Took a day to sightsee and one of the things I went to was the Vietnam Memorial. I got to maybe 50 feet from it and couldn't take another step. Flashing through my mind was thought of walking up and putting my hand on a name I knew. I never made that last 50 feet but I did say a prayer for all those souls.
