My wife was in a similar boat. Worked as a loan officer for a while, took A+, and went to work for several companies in a computer help desk capacity. What helped her was she was able to get a security clearance, and the jobs working help desk for companies with contracts with the Feds have not been too hard to find. Especially in the DC metro area.
Thre appear to be lots of jobs in the finance field also.
