It's amazing that The Simpsons still is going strong after 16 years. I was still in high school when The Simpsons originated - in fact I recall old Simpsons clips from the Tracey Ullman Show back in the late 1980s.
Your average popular TV show runs its course after 7 or 8 years. And a great show won't last past 10 years. (ie - Cheers, Friends, etc)
Question for the true Simpsons geeks out there: They're not in danger of being cancelled anytime soon, are they? Even though I think it's way overdue for them, I do still like the show. After all it was the Simpsons that started a whole animated TV show trend in the 1990s that still goes strong today - The Simpsons helped pave the way for other shows such as King of the Hill, South Park, Family Guy, and whatnot.
But if they do get cancelled, I hope it's not for a long time! And you know there WILL be a Simsons movie! I think it would be cool to hear Homer Simpson curse for the first time.
Lorna, let me say that I've agreed with ya with 99% of the time...
But this is where I disagree with you. The Simpsons for the past 6 years, have been on the decline and picking up speed to its total collapse. I cant remember anyone of the last episodes beyond their premeire. I can remember the classic episodes verbatim. Just now that there isnt any humor left in the show, and Matt Groening and crew should be horribly tortured for letting this travesty of a show to go on as long as it has.
Did anyone notice this past sunday that Ned Flanders answered the door with a cup of c offe in his RIGHT hand? He is LEFT handed. Is this a mistake? I wonder how many other times he has done things with his right hand?
The thing is he just ruins a store called the Leftoriam but may not actualy be a lefty. He mentioned the store again last sunday about how business is really down since left-mart opened up. The show him looking out the window and it looks like Walmart. That is when he takes in some collage girls who set a web came with out him noticing it.
Ned owns and opened the store called the Leftorium. Who else would think of a name like that? Homer wanted it to fail because he dislikes Ned. I saw that episode.
Hey Lorna
i am a HUGE simpsons fan, i think homer simpson rocks... in fact i often tease my dad and call him homer cause he acts so funny sometimes..... my favorite episode of the simpsons is when it is raining acid rain and homer runs out to see why the tv is gone fuzzy and screams from acid rain.. then runs back in and screams at the fuzzy tv and he does this about 6 times , it tottaly cracks me up.
