I found it!

It's JAVA, with a listed composer (per allmusic) of Freddie Friday with the best known version by Al Hirt.

It sounded to me very similar to some Al Hirt instrumentals, and I found it at

http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/window/ ... LO,00.html

Allmusic lists 110 albums/CDs with a song of that title, most of them performed by Al Hirt.

The client is quite a wacky individual, and requested that song for the musical background, but did not know the name of it. Oh, this project is going to be a riot!!
