Talk about anything else: your pets, your car, movies, celebrities, or other things you like. As a reminder, political and religious discussions do not belong in here, nor any other topics that may incite a heated debate! As always keep it clean, please.
They should take these bombers and blow them up with their own device!
We shouldn't be in Iraq! We shouldn't be in Afghanistan! We should keep our noses out from where they are not wanted.
We should side with the underdog for a change! We should not condone the Israelii slaughter of innocent Lebanese civilians. But we do!!
I too have been away too long. My SO started posting on the other support site. But Domestic airline security has always been a hot button of mine.
There is no such thing as "safe". None of the absurd TSA restrictions makes any of us any safer. If we want safer, give the pilots firearms - heck - pass them out to everyone on the flight. That would make us much safer, but still not 100% "safe".
So drive, take the train, whatever. You won't be any safer, but you will be telling the government that they can destroy an innocent industry with their absurdities, but they cannot make Americans any safer.
That Amercans are all too eager to be strip searched and interrogated only because they want to fly somewhere - makes me sick. Anything related to travel is suddenly "probable cause" for all kinds of government harassment and instrusion and control - all for no constructive purpose. What better way to pick on cancer survivors and crossdressers than to search for breastforms at airports? This is our tax dollars at work? I want a refund!
I thought when I suggested that breast implants could contain explosives that the TSA would promptly begin doing mamograms on all passengers, and that finally the self-respecting women in this country would drive a successful boycott of the airlines. But no, people think I'm nuts when I complain about 8 year old girls being groped, and a WW2 hero (former governor of SD) who had his congressional medal of honor confiscated, all in the name of (false) security. Oh Pleeze.
Perhaps I am a little bitter. I still remember Sarah West, and I do NOT forgive United Airlines. OK, a LOT bitter.
The only heroes in the security business are the passengers of UAL Flight 97, who took matters into their own hands, and got the job done, at great personal sacrifice.
I boycott all the airlines. I'm not afraid to fly. I'm just afraid to go to a passenger terminal, and let my government have its way with me.
OK, I said it was a hot button. I've vented a little, and will not burden you further tonight.
You can make your opinion known without sinking to name-calling and bashing, and that kind of abuse will not be tolerated in any form. Do you understand?
I really don't want to move this to the Hot Topics section, or to remove a post by someone, but if the bashing continues then I will do either or both!
Enough said.

Bernice,
I love your comments, your refund is in the mail (hehe).

But, we all know that this is not the answer, one good shot and the airplane will decompress and probably suck half the unseatbelted passengers out the window. Then, maybe some good old fashion "Wild West" mentality could clean house of the bad guys, both foreign and domestic. One never knows.
With warm wishes,
Rose
P.S. Jeannie- You bad (hehe)
