Smart too.

We've got a bird feeder with a perch that rotates if a squirrel tries to climb on. Thereby throwing the squirrel off with centrifugal force.

They've realized that this rotation of the perch shakes seeds out of the feeder and onto the ground.

So, they now cause this to happen, instead of being discouraged.

There's a vicious pack of squirrels circling the house muttering arcane incantations. I can hear them. Please somebody help me before it's too late. Now they're looking at me through the window! And trying to climb down the chimney! It looks like they just got the mailman! This might be goodbye. Carol Ann now look what you've done.

I hope that little boy is alright. Kind of scary that they didn't catch the squirrel and now have to guess about rabies. It certainly is unusual behavior. My neighbor shot a raccoon the other day that was walking around his yard slowly in a circle, growling and biting at the grass. After 15 minutes of this he decided not to take any chances and killed it.
