TG gals at pageants like that one are wonderful to look at. I'd have to think that it's the day-to-day 'ordinary' TG women that change people's ideas about transgender and cross-dressing, though. I say that because it takes more adjustment on people's part to accept someone like me, for instance. Whereas those women are traditional beauty queens in appearance. It may still be a novelty to people, but it's probably not that hard to accept.

What I'm saying is that it's pretty safe for them--they get the benefit of the "novelty," but the women are conventionally beautiful, so few people get upset by it. I don't blame the BBC for using the picture, though.
