What I do/did !
I drove trucks for many years, worked on commercial fishing boats and worked in heli-logging. I also spent nearly sixteen years in the volunteer fire service. Currently I am self employed in the building trades and my wife and I also manufacture and install custom window coverings and draperies. It is a nice home based business, with the added bonus that she does all my alterations and has even made me a few outfits, including the one in my photo.

Ok this is a cool thread,, one I would have been afraid to answer a year ago but here goes.
I have worked on cars the last 25 years,, mostly electrical systems.
The last 10 years have been with GM new car dealers, hence one of my nick names "MS Good-Wench"
I also own a business with my wife, we are in the garment care industry , one reason the only wrinkels in my pics are me and not my outfits
*S*
BTW ,,, Carol Ann, I have the same prob with my hands and nails,, also the second time I saw Stef I wonderd if she had black nail polish on LOL,, Sorry Stef I had to say that

Hey Carol Ann!Carol Ann wrote:Hi Stef, One question. working on presses how do you manage to keep
your fingernails and hands cleanI know what a huge problem that is for us girls.
Carol Ann
I use borax soap and a fingernail brush. Sometimes, when that doesn't work I use a dark nail polish to hide the ink imbedded in my cuticles. After I get off work on Friday afternoons I add a little bleach to my bathwater in order to get all the ink off.
LOL Cindy, you wanna take cheap shots huh? Tell everyone, Mrs Electrical Goodwrench, what happened to your Corvette!Cindy wrote: also the second time I saw Stef I wonderd if she had black nail polish on LOL

Hi all,
I work with computers, started as a COBOL programmer, then as an anlyst, then systems programmer, then taking care of video terminals (planning and managing terminal network, deployment, wiring repair, etc.) and now that all but a couple of dozen terminals are left, repair and maintain PCs.
I've worked with 3 different titles at the same company for over 28 years. I have a couple of more years until I qualify for retirement and probably won't work full time there very many more years after that.
I'm also a music hobbyist and have more music CDs than the average music enthusiast.
After I retire, I would consider working part time a couple of days a week to supplement my pension to support my computer and CD (yes PUN INTENDED
) habits.

this is a fun thread CJ! thanks for starting it. I'm a girl of many hats. most recently I'm been (and still) a writer. although I've got other major things going that I have to keep to myself, but almost by default I've found myself in a record producer's role! It was fun and even though I'm "into" music, I never thought I'd be producing a record. Lets just hope it doesn't get to my head -- the world is already full of people who think they're big shots! LOL!

what we do for a living
Hi CJ,
Well I am a Chiropractor by profession and have spent the majority of my working life in a clinical environment as such. The last few years I've taken a break and spent my time trading the share markets from home, while I came to terms with my gender issues. Trading is also just something I always wanted to have a go at and I find it very 'character building', requiring a huge effort sometimes to keep the emotions suppressed, there is nothing quite like the fear of loss, but so far it's going well.
Kind Regards.
Sally.

Watch nature, because it’s our greatest teacher, it moves and flows and moves on again. We can never be free until we disengage, so allow life to flow as you find it. The way it is, is the way it is.

CJ wrote:Hi all,
Usually, one of the first things we do when getting acquainted with someone is exchange information with them about our occupations. I find it interesting that we don't seem to have done so here, on the board.
...
I've done many things and worn many different hats in my life on the job market but, for the past five years or so, I've been working as a mobile, community-based mental health worker. I provide post-hospitalization community aftercare to adults suffering from various severe and chronic psychiatric disorders. It's a very rewarding and satisfying job; it's forced me to work on myself a lot.
Love,
CJ
Although it is interesting to see the range of occupations pursued by those in this forum, the real lesson to be learned here is that we are a cross-section of the male population. Except for our interest in sometimes presenting a feminine appearance, we do not differ very much from the rest of the world’s men.
As for my own occupation, I work for the government (i.e., for the American people). I do not want to be much more specific than that, not because I am ashamed, unfriendly, painfully shy, or any other psychological reason, but simply because too many people still do not understand the truth in my first paragraph.
To those who have revealed a lot of identifying information about themselves, I salute you for your courage and for your integrity!
Take care,
Jamie Ann

I have worked as camera salesman, owned a photo studio, wedding photogragher, commercial refrigeration repair, photo lab equipmnet repair, fast food mangement, and grocery management. I now work for a school district repairing kitchen equipment for 27 schools and it's the best job I have ever had. I get to move around alot, plan my own work, unless there is an emergency. Fun for me.
