Hey I am glad you lot are on the other side of the Pond.
Though the TV does say that the English have had six inches of the white stuff which brought them to a stand-still.

I find it incredible how little snow is needed these days to cause so much disruption. Driving skills are not as good and the cars are too damned light.

You never see tyre chains on cars these days, when I was a lad everyone used them.

We havent seen any snow this winter! I live in Aberdeen, Scotland. Where according to statistics we have had the warmest January ever.

Wish the wind would drop though, its a howler out there, I could hardly stand up when I took my Tibetan Spaniel - Pepsi out for a walk after work.

tara

take care

Down here in SE PA we have been spared the mighty snowfalls of the more Northern states but two days ago we got about six inches mixed with sleet. The trouble being that The temp. is in the low teens and most of our cars parked on the street are locked up in a frozen grip. Took me two hours yesterday to try to chip away around mine-a regular snowshovel is useless-with a steel shovel but finally got out.
I have seen cars last year that remained in place for a week or two. I mean snow is fun and pretty, but I miss the temperate California weather.

I think we remember the old days with advantages. It does seem like 6" of snow disrupts everything but on the other hand back in the day I think there were just a lot less people driving and peoples lives were a bit slower paced so that there was less to disrupt. Plus as a kid if there was bad snow I was told to walk to the grocery store to get various things by my parents. It was about a mile away. Nowadays I would not try to tell my kids to do that. We have allowed them to become less resourceful in such things.
