Susan Stanton will not sue the city of Largo.

After waiting 40 minutes into the broadcast, the pre-recorded interview with Susan (Steve) was aired. I wish to point out that the Stanton interview was preceeded by a study of Valerie Bertanelli, an actress once married to a rock singer and now going to join the “Jenny Craig” business to advertise her journey to weight loss.

So as usual, TG/TS issues fall to the later part of any agenda including the Larry King Show. Nothing new there!

Stanton presented a good face and was in “drab” as one might expect before the transitioning in late may. Care was taken to present a responsible image that may provide [Susan] the opportunity to be a “City Manager” else where in the months that follow.

Being a nomadic breed (city managers), he did not indicate where he would end up. He is separating from his wife in June. His son as he reports is taking it well as can be expected.

I applaud Susan Stanton for taking the stand that she has and making a good show for all of us in the public eye.

Gender adjectives reflect the "drab" appearance on the show.

Hugs

Thanks Danielle for the update. We did not get to see the program, but from what I know of Larry King it was only good to allow "us' to get some air time and let the public know that we are alive and well!!!

Did anyone catch the "Daily Show" last night. Jon Stewart had an "interview" with Stanton. Parts were serious but some was absolutely hilarious. It shows you can poke fun at anything.

Hi Lydia:

I missed the show. I miss many shows which I can contribute to my spouse having the controller and my lack of interest in television in general.

P.S. I have a controller too but rarely use it and would never think of over-riding the choice made by my spouse. We made it 38 years so far by my having different interests than the general populace.

Perhaps there will be a summer re-run? Anything to make a buck!

Hi all
Gotta hand it to Susan, she's not going to roll over. Copied this from our local paper because sometimes the link doesn't work

Fired transsexual applies for new job
SARASOTA -- (AP) -- The Largo city manager who was fired after revealing his plans to have a sex change has applied for the city manager position in Sarasota.

Steve Stanton, 48, said he submitted his resume this week under his future female name, Susan A. Stanton, with an asterisk that the name change is pending.

''I really had not anticipated applying for a city manager job so quickly,'' Stanton told The Sarasota Herald-Tribune. ``But the opportunity has availed itself, and so we'll see.''

Sarasota commissioners will review about 15 resumes for the job next month. The following week, commissioners will narrow the group to eight candidates. Those applicants will be interviewed by commissioners.

If Stanton is among the final group, he said he will interview as Susan.

The Largo City Commission voted 5-2 in February and again in March to fire Stanton from the $140,000-a-year job he held for 14 years. Commissioners said it was Stanton's judgment, not the revelation he planned a sex change, that prompted the votes.

Good luck to her :)

Most of our City Commission (Sarasota) are reasonably liberal. I wouild hope they will consider Stanton's application seriously - on its merits. We need her here - the previous one left much to be desired.

Best wishes, Susan!!

Lydia

Hi Girls:

5 will get you 10 that the Sarasota "Commissioners," are already considering the political fallout from even interviewing "Susan Stanton." On the other hand, the World as we know it is watching to see how this subject is handled. I really do not think that Florida gets the proper credit from the rest of the Country for being rather progressive and responsible. Our "Voting Ballot" fiasco did not make us look too good at the time.

Florida, with the 3rd largest population among the States, fortunately, has a substantial "older" supply of human beings that for the most part, may prove to be an advantage in both votes and maturity.

I am not aware of the "age" makeup of the Sarasota board that will be doing the interviews so that may not make a difference. People vote their conscience and often, vote with those that they respect or are "in control," as is often the case in political membership structures.

Latest from Sarasota:

Commission members stoutly deny that their decision will be based on anything but qualifications. Knowing some of them, I think they really mean what they say. Details of appilcants will probably be published, and I have high hopes for Susan.

Hi Lydia:

I will be reasonable and optimistic. People are watching of course and if they publish the resume stats, then that alone may be the deciding factor if no one else has comparable experience and time served in an active office environment of city government.

My local County (Volusia) is unfortunately known for it's rather shady past where County government is concerned. Setting aside the "hanging chad" business of yesteryear, race cars and gambling have played a heavy role in local politics.

Our County is run from Ormond Beach, while the administrative offices are located in West Volusia, DeLand, Fla. If you are in the "inner circle," you live in and around Ormond Beach (Ormond by the Sea).

Manure draws flies naturally, while some seem to manage to fling more manure than others, local government leaves a bad taste in my mouth most of the time.

Susan has her work cut out for her. Head em' up, move em' out Susan!

Hi Girls:

Transsexual a front-runner for new job

SARASOTA --
(AP) -- The Largo city manager who was fired after revealing his plans to have a sex change has become a front-runner for the same job in Sarasota.
Steve Stanton, 48, submitted his résumé last month under his future female name, Susan A. Stanton, with an asterisk that the name change was pending.
Stanton was one of three applicants that all five Sarasota city commissioners chose Wednesday among their top candidates.
A consultant will continue to narrow the field of applicants, and the commissioners will interview the final six on May 29.
If Stanton makes the final cut, he told The Sarasota Herald-Tribune that he would interview as a woman.
''It would be a dream job,'' Stanton said.
``The fact that the commission has enough faith to look at someone for their credentials speaks miles of the inclusive nature of Sarasota.''
The Largo City Commission voted 5-2 in February and again in March to fire Stanton from the $140,000-a-year job he held for 14 years. Commissioners said it was Stanton's judgment, not the revelation he planned a sex change, that prompted the votes.
End of entry………………..
