Miss me?

Haven't a clue what I contracted. After my 8/4/08 morning workout, I went in to work and around 2 developed a fever. This lasted for three days. Nothing I took would knock it down for long. Lost my appetite, but didn't get nauseous.

Fever broke Tue morning and I went to my eye appointment. Later, at work, fever returned.

The fever broke Thu. morning, but almost every muscle in my arms and shoulders felt like I went through the first day of NFL training camp. Hard to sleep when it feels like someone is pulling on you tendons to remove the muscle from your arm.

Fri. morning I went to see my GP and he gave me anti inflammatory and pain meds. They didn't help one iota. Pain and sweats. Body temp a little low. BP good.

Spent several hours in the ER after midnight. I figured I was going into shock, so my wife drove me. What ever it is moved into my calves and lower hamstrings, making it hard to walk.

My legs looked as though they atrophied, as they were quite thinner than normal.

The ER doc was still perplexed by the time I left. At least he gave me a stronger pain Rx that masks the pain just enough. The calf muscles felt a little numb, like they fell asleep.

No one said boo about my nail polish :)

Sat and Sun waisted due to leg pain. The meds helped some, but I couldn't stand long. After a few minutes the tendons at the top of my calves would become painful, very painful. Almost gone was the arm and shoulder pain. Problems with the eyes. A tiny blind spot in each. May have had a vein leak.

They are a little better this morning, and ankles are swollen (edema not new).

Gheesh girlfriend!

Sounds like what I had in St. Louis only compounded! Put your head in you know who's lap and let her just hold you!!! Seems to work most of the time!

I really hope you get to feeling better, of course there is always shopping. That seems to make most of us feel better too!!!

Please keep us posted on your recovery!

Love ya,

Hi Donna,

Just a suggestion: Look in ALL of the side effects of any meds you are taking. Mayo Clinic website is a good one to use. I know, for example, that some of the statin (cholesterol reducing) meds cause severe muscle cramps, and these are listed as unusual side effects.

Take care of yourself, girlfriend.

Hugs and Love,

Lydia

Hi Donna
Gee, you had an awful week Hon. I feel for you. You should really try another Doctor who can pinpoint the problem and not quess. I don't want to scare you Donna but my friend Gary had those similar syptoms.
Gary sarted feeling weak and had shoulder,a fever and leg pain on a monday. He went the Doctor who gave home some meds for the flu. He got worse on tuesday and went back to the doctor. On wedneday I talked to him that night and he wasn't his funny self. His wife took him to another doctor on thursday afternoon and she told Chris to bring him to the hospital. Chris drove him from Clinton to Middlesex hospital in Meridan and two hours late Gary was in a coma. They said he had an infection in his aortic valve and needed a new one. The surgery was scheduled at 6am but Gary died at 5am at age 52.
Gary basically was having heartfailure on Monday and it took until thursday for the doctors to figure it out. Major medical screwup on their part.
Take care of yourself Donna and let us know what's going on. Big Hug.

Love
Jeannie

Hi Donna--
The fact that you're on thyroid replacement hormones should be considered. If they aren't in balance, it could be throwing your metabolism off. I hope you can find some answers.

Hi Donna,
Just wanted to say we do miss you. I do hope your on the way to recovery. I for one do not usually get sick, but I just hate it when I do. Three fingers of good old Jack, a couple pills and pile on the blankets and sweat it out. I know! A lot easier said then done. Get better girl.

Wow,, it's not the missing part of your post that concerns me.

You went through some kind of hell those past days and it sounds like they didn't know what was wrong with ya? Sounded very serious and I am glad that you returned but I'm more glad that you are feeling better. Hope you stay in good health Donna.

Thanks everyone.

I'll be seeing an Eye Doctor this morning to see if there's anything can be done about the eyes.

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. Be a pain in the backside till they figure out what was wrong. It sounds like this is potentially serious.

I had a friend who had a four day heart attack. He is okay now, several years later, but it took them a while to figure it out.
