Which Song Means The Most to You ?

If I had to choose a song which meant the most to me it would be Shania Twain - Youre Still The One
(When I first saw you, I saw love. And the first time you touched me,
I felt love. And after all this time, you're still the one I love.)
Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
I'm so glad we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
In the years I have been married everything in this song has come to mean something to me,My wife and I have been through some pretty rough times and our marraige up until now has not been easy for either of us yet still we are together despite the odds and various pressures.
And whenever I hear this song I get a little tear in my eye and realise how lucky I am.
So do you have a particular song that means as much to you?.

I've become "numb" as for lyrics meaning anything . . . I go for the music, however, when I first heard Alice Cooper's "Only Women Bleed". I could feel something. Sad song really.

Hi all,
Simple Song by Lyle Lovett:
It's a simple song for simple feeling
You see the moon and watch it rise
Across the continent the night bird sings
And somewhere someone hears its cry
So disillusioned
Keep your head down
If you do they'll never know
You'll have no answers to their questions
And they will have to let you go
And disenfranchised
Revolution
They'll take away by right what's yours
And make you martyrs of your own cause
When they don't know what cause it's for
And all deserted
Stand alerted
They'll love you when you're all alone
But you find a red rose in the morning light
You wait the night and find it gone
So hear my words with faith and passion
For what I say to you is true
And when you find the one you might become
Remember part of me is you
Love,
CJ

"Mother Stands For Comfort" by Kate Bush...
Any other Kate fans out there?
It's hard for me to believe that I'm the only one

I can not remember if I posted here or not (grew around a lot of different music) but one song or tune that always gets me jazzed is "Eye of the Tiger". I don't know why but it makes me want to keep going on.

Hi all,
Lefty,
Yes, I also like Kate Bush.
Moving
Moving stranger,
Does it really matter,
As long as you're not afraid to feel?
Touch me, hold me.
How my open arms ache!
Try to fall for me.
How I'm moved.
How you move me
With your beauty's potency.
You give me life.
Please don't let me go.
You crush the lily in my soul.
Moving liquid
Yes, you are just as water.
You flow around all that comes in your way.
Don't think it over,
It always takes you over,
And sets your spirit dancing.
How I'm moved.
How you move me
With your beauty's potency.
You give me life.
Please don't let me go.
You crush the lily in my soul.

Hey Sharon, don't forget the prelude to the song:
"Cold hearted orb, that rules the night,
Removes the coulours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white,
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion.
Pinprick holes in a colourless sky,
Let inspired figures of light pass by,
The mighty light of ten thousand suns,
Challenge infinity and is soon gone.
Nightime, to some a brief interlude,
to others the fear of solitude.
Brave Helios wake up your steeds,
bring the warmth the countryside needs.
Breath deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son.
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night.
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white,
But we decide which one is right.
And which is an illusion?"
-----------Moody Blues
Hugs,
Kyra

I've only heard this song for a few months, but I can't seem to get it out of my mind. The melody, the lyrics, the feeling I get when I hear it...
"Destiny" by Zero 7
I've gone to ground
I'm watching porn
In my hotel dressing gown
Now I dream of you
But I still believe
There's only enough for one in this
Lonely hotel suite
Thej ourney's long
And it feels so bad
I'm thinking back to the last day we had
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
On a clear day
I'll fly home to you
I'm bending time getting back to you
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
I'll fly, I'll fly home
I'll fly home and I'll fly home
Hugs,
Kyra

The Beatles -Eleanor Rigby
Just plain lovely. I dont care that much for lyrics in songs, as they usually have very little meaning, or they are just about some silly love affair...blah blah blah, not that I have anything against love and affairs.
But in this song, they are just perfect. Sure, I love every Beatles song, but this one has the best lyrics, no doubt about it. At least in my opinion.

Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire
It was apropos when it first came out in 1964 and perhaps even more so today
The eastern world it is exploding
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill but not for votin'
You don't believe in war but whats that gun you're totin'?
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'
But you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say
Can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today?
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave
Take a look around you boy, it's bound to scare you boy
And you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Yeah my blood's so mad feels like coagulating
I'm sitting here just contemplatin'
I can't twist the truth it knows no regulation
Handful of senators don't pass legislation
And marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin'
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'
And you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for four days in space
But when you return it's the same old place
The pounding of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead but don't leave a trace
Hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace
And tell me
Over and over and over and over again my friend
You don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction
Mmm, no, no, you don't believe
We're on the eve of destruction

Good song Diana and so right for the era of the 60s and it carried through today.
I am going to dig back into the oldies as well. This one was the one that moved me a lot back in 1968. I had a friend in high school who's brother was drafted and one of the 50,000 plus who came home in a box.
Sky Pilot by Eric Burdon and the Animals
He blesses the boys as they stand in line
The smell of gun grease and the bayonets they shine
He's there to help them all that he can
To make them feel wanted he's a good holy man
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky
He smiles at the young soldiers
Tells them its all right
He knows of their fear in the forthcoming fight
Soon there'll be blood and many will die
Mothers and fathers back home they will cry
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky
He mumbles a prayer and it ends with a smile
The order is given
They move down the line
But he's still behind and he'll meditate
But it won't stop the bleeding or ease the hate
As the young men move out into the battle zone
He feels good, with God you're never alone
He feels tired and he lays on his bed
Hopes the men will find courage in the words that he said
Sky pilot.....sky Pilot
How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky
You're soldiers of God you must understand
The fate of your country is in your young hands
May God give you strength
Do your job real well
If it all was worth it
Only time it will tell
In the morning they return
With tears in their eyes
The stench of death drifts up to the skies
A soldier so ill looks at the sky pilot
Remembers the words
"Thou shalt not kill"
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You never, never, never reach the sky
