Why we love Floriduh
(exclude the love bugs..they die very happy)
Top 10 reasons we're still in Florida for another hurricane
We're still here because . . .
1. We now own a generator, hurricane shutters, mountains of batteries, crates of SpaghettiOs and an ocean of bottled water. And we're not leaving until we use everything.
2. We're trying to win back all the money we've lost at Hard Rock.
3. We want to see what happens first. We die or the widening of I-95 in South Florida is finished.
4. We love the look of "tarpaulin blue" that bloomed on rooftops after Frances and Jeanne and Wilma
5. We got to experience the worst season ever in Miami Dolphins history.
6. We want to bond with neighbors we haven't talked to since Wilma in 2005.
7. Iowa doesn't have an ocean.
8. California has earthquakes.
9. We know we'll never die of boredom.
10. The cabin in North Carolina isn't finished.
and...an excuse to drink BEER!!!!!
Hugs all

Hi DeeDee,
The power in N'awlins used to go out so often we had our Genset ready and had the routine down to a science. We never packed up the blue tarps.
Since living in CO, I have to remember to fire up the generator from time to time, just to make sure the darn thing still works...and the only time the tarps come out is when we have a big painting project.
I love number 3! We saw the same thing on I-10.
Hugs,
Kyra

Michelle most of the doors are warped by the time I find them. Worst is the Coast Guard sinking all of the neat old cars. Seriously, its a sad thing that people risk their lives to get here...whether its for political or financial reasons. Heres a link http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1419194/posts It all still amazes me and confuses me.

Like you DeeDee we have taken the same precautions here in Tampa. I could do without the hurricanes. I've survived 11 Hurricanes and typhoons in my life and watch each new season with suspicion. Life is anything but boring with the influx of Hatians, Cubans, Mexicans and Northerners. We also have numerous varities of non-native wild life running loose. Big snakes, iguanas, monkeys, etc. Oh, not to forget the drug dealers.
On the up side there is golf, fishing and great weather. Unfortunately Stephanie the Grey Goose and Budwieser is a no-no with the diabetes. Darn, sure helps during hurricanes!

Haitians,Cubans,Mexicans and Northerners
Hi Girls
Let me think. There is one group of those four who are really dangerous.
When I think of Haiti I think of Michel Martelly, also known as "Sweet Mickey". A fabulous musician. He donated his time and talent to participate in "Knowledge is power" an educational video to try to prevent the spread of AIDS in Haiti.
Cubans? I think of the Buena Vista Social Club. The album produced by my favorite, Ry Cooder with a group of old Cuban musicians that sold 5 million copies worldwide.
Mexicans? Carlos Santana. No. He is not Puerto Rican. There is a difference. Just say " Englishman or Irish. What's the difference!" to someone from Belfast and Liverpool and you will find out real fast.
Then there are the Northerners. They are the most dangerous. They will screw you every chance they get and you will trust them.
I think you should add one more group to the Haitians,Cubans and Mexicans. We demon transgendered. Fair is fair. Stupidty has no bounderies. Just a thought ladies. Hugs.
