Hi Girls
If you live in the United States or anywhere else in the world the fat lady just finished her song. As most of you must know by now there is a bit of financial crisis in world markets especially here. By the way,my son John Paul is a bit Gay.
Our government is hard at work coming up with a fabulous plan to bailout companies with 700 billion dollars of our money. That's good. These companies have trillions of dollars of bad investments and I'm sorry to say it's too little too late.
It's comforting to see our Senators and Congressmen working all weekend to try to pass a bill that will do absolutely nothing to save the financial system and they know it. They are fiddling while Rome is burning.It's going down faster than Barbara Walters on a first date.
Our oil rich enemies around the world also know it and are getting quite bold. Russia is on the prowl again and knows we can't do a damn thing to stop them. North Korea just kicked out all the inspectors and has started up there nuclear enrichment program again with Chinas blessing.
The Russians have their warships off Venesula to conduct war games with Mr. Chavez and Amidemijad and the Iranians are right in our face. Condelessa Rice is telling them all there will be serious consequences for bad behavior and they just laugh.
But don't worry ladies. Whoever wins the election will come to the rescue. They both say they will lower college costs,make health insurance affordable and available to every American,fix Social Security, our crumbling infrastructure and schools,have a comprehensive energy policy focusing on alternative energy and best yet lower taxes. Hmmm? Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah! It's was President Nixon almost 40 years ago.
It's just like having kids. You can catch them so many times but you get to the point where you just have to let them fall. This is going to be a very hard fall girls. Hugs.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Russians in Venezuela. The four warships in the Caribean constitute about 50% of their active Navy. They have a huge Navy, but most of it is laid up inactive due to their own financial woes. Oh, and they have another destroyer off Africa hunting that hijacked Ukrainian freighter (laden with T-72 tanks and an arseload of ammo). The Russian Navy used to be the terror of the seas, and they might be again, but not any time soon.

Hugo Chavez is trying to set up Venezuela as the next great American socialist state. He's off to a great start: unlike the US government, he's nationalizing successful businesses. I have a friend down there, and he says most of his people have written Chavez off as a pompous windbag. Sooner or later they'll get tired of his ranting and do away with him.

North Korea is somewhat of a threat, but mostly to itself. They have one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet, and they're mostly concerned with keeping their own people down. The sad part of it is, they keep their people so sheltered from the outside world that they don't realize how bad off they are. CNN ran a doc a couple of months back where Christiane Amanpour went over, and it was SCARY.

Iran is a potential problem, but only because their religious leadership supports terrorism. If the US would withdraw to a background presence in the Middle East, and leave them alone for a bit, they'd back off and leave us be as well. If our government would invest more in alternative energy sources and reduce our dependence on oil, we wouldn't need to pay so much attention to that part of the world. I'm not saying we should pull out completely, but all they want (even Al Qaeda, at their root) is to be left alone.

To be honest, I don't see the United States surviving in its current form much beyond the next hundred years, if even that long. The country is becoming too divided along regional lines again. I don't know if it will come to war (no use calling it "civil"), but the American Empire is dying.
