Kick the Kids Out of the Sandbox

Post by Frances Jewell »

It is time to kick the whining kids out of the Congressional Sandbox and elect an all new group of mature adults to the Playground. The sad thought is that - we are not going to find the needed leadership from many if not all of the candidates currently running. I am not gloom and doom about my future, eventually things work out, but never in our recent history have we been so devoid of leadership. I know that we have many members from England, but lets face it, it was a tough choice to Kick the Good King out, that would not happen today. I've literally had it with these clowns. Thank you for the opportunity to stand on a soap box and shout it out.

Hi Hon
I know how you feel. There is only one party in Washington. The Republicrats. They all tell us what wonderful things they will do for us when they're running for office and then when elected they do everything for the lobbyists who funded their campaigns. It's called Capitalism. "Show me the money!"
We are all just along for the ride. Take this latest economic crisis for example. They come up with this bailout bill, that morfs into a rescue bill filled with another 150 billion of pork barrel spending.
Now they say"Buying the toxic mortgages will take too long so we will take the money and buy prefered stock in all the troubled banks." That was signal to the wealthy to buy stocks in those banks. I bet the US stock market opens strong this week and will tank after they took their profits.
I remember years ago watching a seminar with Lester Thurow. He is an economist and was the Dean of the Sloan School of management at MIT. He said the following:

"The only way the United States can compete in the world market is to lower their standard of living."

Executives took that message to heart. In the last 20 years they have been busy lowering the standard of living for most Americans and raising their own. You have it made if you're the CEO of bankrupt Lehman Brothers and walk away with 500 million in the last few years for driving the company into the ground.
The wealthy love this drop in the market. They're buying their brains out and can wait a few years and triple their money. You can pick up General Motors for 5 bucks. That's what it traded for in the fifties. The government won't let them fall. UTC is also selling at 50% percent off. They just sold the Pentagon 1000 rotor blades for Blackhawk helicopters. They cost $175,000 dollars a pair. Do the math.
I told you ladies. Karl Marx said it best. "Democracy is the road to Socialism." After World War II our government realized the power of the military industrial complex which President Eisenhower warned us about. Our governments mantra is now "Profits are good, voters mean crap."
The Constitution was great in theory but never put into practice. It took until 1918 for women to get the right to vote and until 1964 for the voting rights act for African Americans. Government of the people,by the people and for the people. All men are created equal. Yeah. Thats good. Hugs.

Love
