So, the lady that owns a consignment shop down the road says

to me:

"I've been having a bit of trouble here lately, I could have used your help earlier today!"

I ask, "What's going on?"

"Shoplifters...I wish I had someone reliable to help me here sometimes..."

So, I prod a bit more..."Is there anything I can do to help?" She's a real sweetheart, I helped her move all of the fixtures, the counters, and that stuff into the place, she'd do about anything for me if I asked.

"No, what I need is a reliable woman. In here, when these women come to try this stuff on, they just parade back out of the dressing room, just in their bras and whatnot, I don't think they'd take too kindly to a big ol' man standing there."

"Well...I could help ya, all camouflaged and such...hold on, I'll be right back."

I went back home and got a few photos of myself en'femme, specifically the ones like in my album here on the site, the black and white suit, at the office.

I hand them to her, she opens the mini-album, flips through a few of them, and her jaw drops. "T..t..this is you? Wait..this IS you!"

*more stunned disbelief*

She looks back and forth between me in 'alpha-male' mode, standing in front of her, and the pictures, finally speechless.

"So, if you need me, just ask! I might even bring Michelle over here shopping one day!"

She starts laughing...the good kind of laughing..."I'd really like to see that."

Michelle, this is so neat on so many levels! Just that you were able to come out to her. The fact the she now realizes that her friend, who apparently has been very helpful to her in the past, is a cross dresser. The fact that she was able to take the surprise with good humor. But most of all the fact that you could potentially be the answer to her problem BECAUSE you are a cross dresser.

It's a win-win situation for you, her, and our community at large.

Bravo! Dearest. Bravo! =D>

Oh, I seriously doubt Michelle's the 'working girl' type.

Most of the time, if I'm going to let someone in on it, I'll look for an opening, usually one I can take to a humorous conclusion, and 90% of the time, it usually works. I got a chance today, and I took it. Lucky for me, she found a bit of humor in it as well.

OK. Michelle, maybe you're not going to be on commission there any time soon, but I did like that story.

Yeah, the best part of it, was her looking back and forth between the pics and me, a stunned look of 'no, this can't be..wait, yes it can...no...uhhh'.

Sometimes I just wish I could live in another time or place so I could come out to others as you have. Good going. *-*

Like I said before, humor is the key with me. If I can make someone laugh, chances are, I can usually work it in somehow. Either that or straight up 'shock value'.

Case in point: I was visiting my little brother a while back, and we ended up in the local mall. The subject of our discussion turned to him just flat out asking me "OK, seriously, how do you shop for clothes?"

I said "Like this. Follow me." We made a hard left into some store, with him following me, looking around like he was in trouble, and me, without a care in the world. I grabbed a really pretty dress off the rack on the way to the cashier's counter in the store, and asked the clerk, "Excuse me, do you have this in a 22?" She looked at me, looked at my brother, and said "Well,...uh...no, the plus size dresses are on the other side of the store, over that way." pointing us in the opposite direction. I thanked her, took the dress back to the rack where I got it, hung it up, and kept walking out the store.

My little brother follows me out, and comes alongside me, with a puzzled look on his face.

I said to him, "Like that."
