I left a job I enjoyed because of the unsocial hours being hard on family life. Started a new one, walked out after two days because it was not what it was made out to be!
Having never been out of permanent work, this has been very hard on me. Luckily I have been able to do some supply work, so haven't felt completely useless, but it's not the same as having a regular job. The job market is pretty competitive where we live, at the moment, so have had the disappointment of applying for jobs, and not hearing back, which knocked my confidence somewhat.
Over the last few weeks I've been working my way through some tests, as part of the selection process to work for the Civil Service. I just got a letter through today offering me a position!
It is very much a departure from what I have been doing (supporting adults with learning disabilities), but I'm excited about doing something new. I will still work an occasional weekend, for the charity I worked for previously, as relief. So...all is good!
