Anyone like running?

Post by Sherry S »

I started running about a year and a half ago. So far I've run 6 half marathons, 1 full marathon, and a bunch of other smaller 5k and 10k races.

It's really a good thing.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else here is a runner.

I will be flying down to Richmond, VA for the marathon there on the 14th of Nov.

Anyone here from that part of the country - or planning to be there on that weekend?

I don't get away from my home very much and thought that might be a good place to maybe meet others with similar interests.

I used to love to run, although it's primary purpose was to keep me in shape for hiking. Ran 6 miles a day most day for a number of years, then cut back to 3 miles.

I have bad knees now so I go to the gym and take gentle walks

I use to run all the time, when I was younger. Now I can't run a lick. Most of my exercise comes from swimming where I swim 3000 meters every morning before going to work.

SharonRose is a marathon runner. Don't know if she will see this thread or not.

Hi Sherry,

No, I don't run, I lift, too much I guess, but anyway, Richmond has some nice, safe "metropolitan" clubs. "Babe's" is primarily a lesbian bar and grill, food is not bad and the atmosphere is nice. There is also "Z-2's" a gay establishment and again nice, but cliquish so it it better to go with someone. BarCodes and Godfrey's are nice places too.

Run fast, run hard and we hope you win!!!

I run 2.5 miles a day, and have done so since 2000. I used to have a bad back, but that is now history. Nothing like keeping fit!

i LOVE RUNNING

I am now 50 and have run since college. I was very committed in my youth and ran several marathons and many shorter races. I have ramped down greatly on mileage since age 40, but still enjoy running 10K distance on a nice day. It helps me manage stress and weight.

Your e-mail indicates a real affinity for running and I say go for it!
