"You take your gloves off like a woman"

Excuse me? was my reply when my wife said that tonight. I never realised there was a gender specific way to remove gloves.
Yes it is true that they are womans gloves, a nice pair of fleece lined Isotoners with a faux leather trim. My wife continued "Well look you pull each finger a little starting at the pinkie then you grab all four fingers to pull it off".
I'm still confused.

Yes, yes I agree. I remember my mother teaching me the proper way to remove your gloves in my early years when ladies wore white gloves to church, etc.

I just grab a few fingers of the glove and pull it off.
I reckon more finesse is needed if the gloves are tight.

I think the isotoners require a "womanly touch" to remove them. Mine are snug enough that I have to work them loose a finger at a time before I could consider ripping them off. So it's possible that the clothes (the gloves in this case) need a particular way to remove them.
It's like women hang a shoe (particularly their heels) at the end of their foot to rest their feet; men don't have that need. I'm sure there are other examples of what women do pertaining to their clothes that men dont have to do and vice versa.

Interesting examples of how a gender specific behavior is the result of the clothing, not the other way around.
