This is the worst form of stupid ignorance I have seen in a long time.

Leprosy is a easily curable disease these days but it cannot be cured by ignoring it the way India seems to be doing. This is a terrible indictment that condemns thousands to a terrible life through no good reason. Billions for nuclear weapons - nothing for health care

It seems that very little money could make a very big difference. Somehow it seems worse that thsio shoudl still be such a probl;em in the 21st century when the desease itself is easily treated.

I have travelled to India on multiple occasions... Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Goa, and Agra. One thing I can honestly say is that it can be a heartbreaking experience. SO MUCH poverty and despair. There are clearly the "haves" and the millions of "have nots".
When you ask the intelligent and educated people (the haves) of India why something more isn't done for these people, they answer with the most unbelievable lack of sympathy... "that is their station, and the life the must live" The cast system is alive and well for sure.
Now that I have given you the worst view of India, please understand that in the middle of all this suffering is one of the most incredible cultures and experiences I have ever had. India is a true case of duality.

I was in India a few years ago, and observed some of the most beautiful and also some most depressing things. I shall never forget the scenes of poverty perfumed with the scent of death accentuated by the hypnotic fragrance of jasmine.
Clearly the key is overpopulation. I saw a mobile medical station advertising free vasectomies with a gift of a palm size radio. The entrance queue was of wizened old men, and exiting with their little radios. Surrounding were several young fellows deriding the oldsters.
India is well on its way to becoming the densest populated country.
