Did you come here from CDDF?

Post by Celia »

This subject came up in chat. I can remember several of us from CDDF - Beauty, Lorna, Rikki, Andrea, for example (I was Celia there, as well). Others from CDDF joined us using different names. I didn't know Susan was Susan_UK, etc. Did you come here from CDDF? Another site? Wander upon our forum from Google? Do tell!

What is or was CDDF?

Hi Carolyn--
It was called "Crossdressers Discussion Forum," and it was a German site, I believe. I got my start there, in 2001. Sally was there when I started, but I don't remember anyone else at the beginning.

It was hard on me because it was a scrolling board; a hot topic might last for a day or two, but basically, the page moved on, much like Facebook does. If a post got no immediate replies, it just got shuffled on with the day's postings, and disappeared at the end of the day.

Was a member a long long time ago but gave it up because of all the flameing and very nasty comments. [-X

My first experience in trying to cope with my feelings of crossdressing came with my becoming a member of CDDF. I joined using the name CONFLICTED/CONFUSED because at that time I wasn't sure of my true feelings. The members there over time helped me accept and understand what I was going through and accept my true feelings. I then changed my name to CharLee and was on my way to be comfortable with my CDing without the guilt I had had for many years.

When CDDF shut down I thought I was going to be lost without any help until I chanced upon this forum and all it's wonderful people. Here I found support and advice to help me along my journey to accepting what I wasn't sure I would eventually wind up doing.

I started here, came upon this site after looking for somewhere I could talk to with persons that shared interests as I do. I have found a group of "girls" whom do not judge me but rather support and encourage. They also give advice, which is nice. I am fortunate to have found this site as it has helped me be Erica, I am not sure I would be who I am today without knowing that there are many other like me and it is ok to do and feel this way.

Thanks everyone!

Hugs,

Erica

I came from the Petticoat Pond. It was busy for the longest time, but issues happened and the crowd dissipated. Rikki is a member as well. I needed a new place to chat and fit in. Certainly wasn't looking for a meat market. Thanks for being here, y'all

The CDDF was the first CD site I spent time on. When it anounced that it was shutting down, KimberlyS and Susan told me about this site. There was an attempt by a couple of the members to set up sites similiar, but it just didn't work out.

My feelings on the CDDF was that it was home and when it shut down I felt that I had lost my home. When I came over here and was posting my New Member message I was in tears. And when I started getting the welcome messages I realy cried, but they were happier tears.

I was Leeza there as I am here.

Not I. I'm a relative newcomer to the whole on-line forum business. For the most part I've considered all of it to be sort of a waste of time, I didn't really have any interest in posting my thoughts, etc. That applies to all manner of forums, not just about CDing.
Well a year or so ago, when I let a close friend of mine know about this, she suggested I find myself a "support group", but of course I don't need any support group, so I didn't take it seriously. But every once in a while I will do some CD related searches on Google or something just to see what's going on in the world, and one day I came across this site. Since it was unlike all the other crossdressing sites, not trying to sell a bunch of crazy TV costumes and overpriced stuff and inhabited by activists (I hate activists of every stripe), I took some time and checked it out. After a while I concluded that all these people here I could relate to, they were basically just people talking about something they liked. So I joined up, and have been stirring up trouble ever since :)
Just a few days ago I was looking again at various CD sites, just to see what is happening, and it's still the same. Either the site is the pet project of one particular person and nobody else is there, or they are trying to sell a bunch of stuff, or they are a bunch of activists. This seems to be the only one that is "comfortable" to me at least.

I had quite long periods online in discussion groups ca 1996-2007, but not CD groups because I wasn't CDing. They do definitely give something to your life if you find the right one. I only really started looking for a CD group in Summer 2010, a few months after the CDing had got really serious. But I was also looking at general CD sites and particularly liked the "Femulation" site. Googling idly one day I came across a post about "femulation" here and that was my introduction. It took me a while to sign up and then a while to start posting. But then that's me..

I read CDDF for a long time. I won't say "lurked" because I tried really hard to register and post, but I was never allowed to. I had Earthlink back then; I don't know if that was the problem or not, because right around the time the CDDF went under (And , to their credit, they folded up shop rather than give the Government, EU information on their posters) My computer died, and with my replacement package I got a new IP provider. I began shopping around and ended up here. Definitely more civilized than CDDF. But They were pioneers, and they deserve our thanks. I certainly offer them mine, postable or not.

OK, yeah, I do remember CDDF, just been a lot of water under the bridge since then and I really never recall it by the initials. I read it quite a bit at first I think, but didn't post too much, just if something interested me. Often it was not all that interesting for where I was at the time. I think it was about the same time I found this place, and I can't recall which came first, the chicken or the egg. No that's not right, CD Forum or CDDF! I was always more comfortable here, and yes I do recall that several people on here were also on CDDF, often using different IDs but sometime similar ones. It was interesting seeing how themes developed between one and then the other, and that helped relate between IDs.

don't remember ever visiting a CDDF, but only pettipond.com as Davita mentioned. Met several nice people there like Davita and DeeDee who are now members here. This is a far more down to earth CDing chatroom, while I do enjoy the poufie fashions of pettipond and Tessy's friends.
