Other side as men overdo there stories , I can believe the are scared to the bone. Bar talk about medical procedures is not making you go easily.

Maybe they are afraid of the doctor saying as he puts to the surgical glove, " bend over I want to check your throat!"

I hate the annual exams for several reasons, including that they don't want to draw my fasting blood sample or even the urine specimen until after the digital rectal exam (typically about 2-3 hours after I arrive). Then my doctor (who, even after 31 years, does not know, I don't think) examines the quantity of hair on my legs, tells me I need to lose 180 pounds (like all I need to do is eat less), whines about my A1C, then forgets to write new prescriptions for everything.

Then he sends me for EKG, chest X-Ray, and every five yrs for a colonoscopy. After a few weeks of disrupted schedules, then I can finally shave my legs for fall/winter.

I'm up for the ol' colonoscopy this year. Not really looking forward to it.

I don't hate doctor visits. They are keeping track of how fast I am falling apart and when necessary, they fix something. Since they are my doctors, some know about Davita and the others, well probably will before I die.

So why do men hate doctors? Why are you asking this girl?

I don't hate going to the Doctor's, I just don't have occasion to. The last few times I have visited it has been for something simple like a referral for a hearing check (I have had a hearing defect since birth) or a follow up after a visit to A & E (Allergic reaction to wasp sting). He will waffle for a couple of minutes take my blood pressure and send me away. I am quite sure that if we meet in the street we would not recognise each other. Actually now I come to think of it I think I heard he had retired so maybe I've never met my doctor....

I don't mind doctor visits. It's always reassuring to hear that nothing is wrong.

Like Paula, I don't care about seeing a doctor, I just don't have much occasion to. I did go to see one here a month or so ago when I needed some antibiotics for Lymes, because of another tick bite. If I had been in Bulgaria I wouldn't have bothered, I would have just gone and bought some.
But I suppose it's OK to go see a doctor once in a while.........

This is the comments section: "Paul at 224 on 21st Aug gave 2 examples of several studies showing that circumcision does reduce penis length by an average of 8mm." and he goes on to chide the doctor on his info. Is it me or is that nitpicking? I could be that I don't have one- but if your nitpicking a difference of 8 mm I assure you no ones gonna notice.

8mm ??? maybe we all just need any excuse we can come up with Dolores.

I just hate queing for anything, the doctor's surgery is usually the worst for having to wait. Hmm airports may be worse.

I only go if it is absolutely necessary.

My excuse is pretty simple, it's a waste of money. I don't mean that it's unnecessary or not important, but just that most of the money spent there is wasted. My example: a few months ago I had a tick and consequently got Lymes disease. This is pretty common in WI, and I've had it before so I pretty much knew the drill. So I went to the local clinic, told them what it was and that I needed some anti-biotic for it. So of course they didn't believe me because it would be impossible for anyone to ever know what was wrong with themselves. They wanted to do some tests, OK a blood test is no big deal. I paid $100 when I walked in the door of the clinic, which I thought should be enough to run a blood test and write a prescription. Then a few weeks later I get a bill in the mail saying they want another $800. This was simply ludicrous, a blood test and a prescription for something I already knew the answer to is going to be $900? Naturally I wrote them a scathing letter and told them to go fly a kite.

Here I am 8 weeks later, and the Dr office and the radiologist and the hospital (and I think there must be more) all have their hands out for atrocious amounts of money (why should an annual checkup sans colonoscopy cost $800?).

Problem is: My insurance covers an annual exam at 100% - NO Copay. But, the Doctor has to bill the insurance for "an annual exam". That's what was done, right? But, the Doctor knows that he/she can bill for a lot more money if he/she never mentions the words "Annual checkup", so he/she does not, and I am caught in the middle.

If I wasn't sick on the day of the exam, I feel that way now.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the doctor and insurance company.

I think you should report him/her for insurance fraud, and find a new doctor asap. Oh, and don't forget to spread the word about this doctor's billing practices by word-of-mouth which, hopefully, will eventually hurt his/her business . . . and rightly so, IMHO. I have not checked out the site, but does "Angie's List" have a section regarding the medical field? If not that site, maybe another (ie, Craig's List, etc.)??
