Yeah, it is nice that people are talking. You have to remember that we hadn't had any new members for ca 15 months (or as near as makes no odds). So it takes some time for people to adjust - the new people coming in and the people who've been here for a while (or longer).

All it takes is one person and the group joins in.

Woohoo!

Yep,

sometimes it felt as though we had already said what we had to say, but some fresh members have stimulated us all back into more activity.

New people bring on new questions and new ideas.
It is nice to wake up the brain and see if it is still working. lol

Hi After breakfast, shaving and checking E-mail I wind up here to see what people I think of as friends have to say. In the afternoon and evening I usually watch a romantic
comedy DVD or read a romance. I suffer from happy ending syndrome. I confess I peek at the last page and if the hero and heroine are not kissing or heading off into the
sunset together I don't buy the book.

Just noticed this thread here, and I have to say how relieved I am that you like new member activity.

I've just arrived so it's always nice to know you feel this way. I suspect they may be a smidgen of new activity here in the next few days

. Thankyou to everyone for being so welcoming.

I hope to contribute in any way I can to this forum xxx

I'd like to echo Karin's comments. I was wondering if we would be welcome arriving en masse from "the other site" but you all seem very gracious. It just takes a while to get to know new people, both ways.

In the dark days when this site was very slow and we didn't have any new members (because of issues to do with automated attempted subscriptions that, once accepted, produced reams of spam) I used to look with a mixture of envy and discomfort at the site many of the new posters come from.
The envy was because of the energy and commitment - and the sheer number of posts. The discomfort was because of the vibe - which, at least in my take, incorporated people with 50,000 posts telling newbies that their queries had already been dealt with and "yawn".
So...I hope we don't do that here. But please bear in mind there is a distinct difference in styles between the two sites and that's inevitably going to lead to some awkward moments and stuff like that.

Anthony, thank you for your post. I am really pleased to be here, and I appreciate there may be a difference in culture. Therefore I am trying to go softly softly until I find my feet here.
I hope you can make some allowances any exuberances I/we may display.
Hugs

Exuberance is good! I mean I wouldn't want to whinge about people having a good time. The truth of it is I don't quite know where an injection of people who like to talk to each other in a kind of ongoing constant discourse kind of way (that's how your style looks to me) takes a site like this.
One thing is that you're encouraging other people to join in, so you're sparking the site up like that - and quite a lot, as far as I can see. Like we absolutely do need the injection of new threads, energy etc..
But then there's the question of where exactly it leaves the members who have been here for a while, who don't have that style. I mean they still have valuable things to say, but they may fear that they kind of get forgotten because they don't say things that often.
