Like I said elsewhere, nice model, but what are they trying say about the car?

It appears that fashion (a ploy for certain individuals to get rich) has taken over car advertising.

Doesn't seem to matter how many cylinders its got, or the cubic capacity, bhp at what rpm, torque at what rpm, 0-60 time, type of suspension, wheel and tyre size, boot (trunk) capacity, will it fit in your garage, etc etc. These don't seem to matter these days as long as its the perfect urban car (?), has an backside (Renault), or (don't know what the Fiat 500 ad is trying to say...Is it just me getting grouchy in my old age??? Help! Is there a doctor on board...?

Anna,

There was an Dutch ad for a bra a while ago that came up here. It used Andrey Pejic - the well-known TG model. In the description of the campaign I remember it was said that the Dutch company commissioning the ad (Hema) was a kind of bland chain store who had employed this celebrity TG in order to make itself look interesting. The story accompanying the video says the same thing about the thinking behind using this TG model, that the Toyota Carolla is kind of bland and the idea of the ad campaign is to overcome that.

Seems like the Hema ad was pretty well received by the Dutch. Maybe these guys thought it a good enough idea to repeat. But, yes, it doesn't have anything to do with what the car can do, rather with its "image" and so the idea that the customer has about him - or her self.

The first words, spoken and text, in the ad are "Not Authority" Obviously, they want to Identify the Auris with breaking new ground, and the youth market. In the years I spent in the car business, I learned that, unless you're a mechanic, or an engineer, it's a lot more about business,(marketing) than it is about cars. As far as cylinders go, well, the really technically interesting ones, nowadays, have electric motors, bluetooth, and park themselves.

The really encouraging thing to me in all this is the realization that the idea of transgender behavior as liberated, and more intriguing than threatening is so widely accepted by the rising generation that it has even been acknowledged by the boardroom: The Last people on earth to ever get anything.

Yup I agree, April. Who'd have ever believed it?
