RIP Jonathan Winters

The great improv comic Jonathan Winters died today at 87 years. He rarely failed to crack me up as he visualized in almost free association some circumstance and dragged me along with him, with sound effects and finger wriggles, and mugged expressions. His kinda simple wrecker driver in "IT's A MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD" always leaves me highly amused as he confronts the slick greed of Phill Silvers and the other silly people after Jimmy Durante's hidden cash. He had his mental problems, as has his protege' Robin Williams, but both have been favorites of mine. I will have to live in a world without Mr. Winters, but at least there are a few movie gems to refresh my memory of him.

Yes. I loved Jonathan Winters and his free association humor. I can picture him pedaling along in " It's a Mad Mad World" on the "Girl's Bicycle" I could never be sure whether he was a comic genius, or just crazy as a bed bug. I like to think that he would like to be remembered that way. Anyway, he made my life as an "alternative" person a little easier, and I will always remember him for that.
