blue for boys , pink for girls and purple for us

I dont know whether anything like this has ever been discussed before but I was wondering if CDs take claim to a certain colour ( spelt color if in America ) .
In australia we have the standard pink for girls , blue for boys and yellow for gays although some also lay claim to pink.
50% girl pink + 50% boy blue = 100% purple me , just like mixing paint ,I used to wear a lot of purple clothes and the colour was my hidden meaning .
does anyone else use this theory ?
does anyone think it should become the traditional CD colour
lots of love girls from Merinda

Hi Merinda,
My answers is no, I am not one that loves the crowd, and one color does not suit everyone.

Purple has always been my favorite color but I always attributed it to me being a child of the 80's and being a huge fan of Prince!

Hi Darlene ,
I was refering to purple as a symbolic colour , understandable everyone has their favorite colour and least favorite colour , as a schoolgirl I am in green because that is who I am .
In casual clothing I like to mix blue skirt and red or pink top etc , purple is one of my favorites and I have always thought of it as a boy/girl mix.
lots of love

, 'er purrple, purple person here,
Will a purple no do? Never did like those allotted colors, wanted to wear pink, but did not want to be seen as a Sissyyyy.
Sure Sis I understood where Merinda was coming from, and do not have problem with it. I am just not the kind of person who gets excited about those kind of things. Shucks sure would be nice to be perfect, but alas I am left to this sad state.
Bless you Merinda No explanation required.

Purple's one of my favorite colors. It has been ever since I learned amethyst was my birthstone.
I'm a Prince fan also, since someone's counting. I became one when I first heard him about 1983 or so, but haven't paid much attention to his new music since about 1995 or so. The newer stuff just hasn't appealed.
Now that I think about it, hasn't the color purple been claimed by some cause or other already? I remember seeing purple ribbons, but I don't remember what they symbolize.

Hi all,
I think purple would be a great colour to represent the gender-blended. The royal or imperial connotations are especially appealing.
Personally, I prefer
mauve, though.
Love,
CJ

Hmmmmm... purple as a symbolic color. I've also seen, elsewhere, the suggestion of a butterfly as a symbolic image.
Personally I don't have much problem with either suggestion except that it only gives everyone else a symbolic handle upon which to grab hold and bash us some more.
I prefer to keep 'em guessing. But, that's just me.

Thanks to you all for your replies,
The purpose of the post was mainly to share with you the way that I see a particular colour of the spectrum and how it relates to me , I think the term
"gender blended " was an excellent description ( thank you ).
I respect the views of all of you and understand that my view may not be everybodies cup of tea but thats fine .
Thanks once again for your comments , and lots of love.

Beauty,
I go back as far as Dirty Mind and 1999 but my all time fave album is Purple Rain! He is a musical genius in my opinion.
