The curse is lifted, the wicked Witch is dead! I personally don't take all that superstition stuff seriously, however I do like to have fun with it. Congratulations to all of you Cubs fans out there! Take a deep breath, the long wait is over. Terrific game 7, terrific series, terrific season. I was neutral on that World Series as far as team loyalties go, but even so game 7 for me was all the emotion I could handle. But then again, the World Series wouldn't be the World Series without that sort of high drama. I do however plan to party tonight with all the Cubs fans in the "hood".
I just have two questions which maybe some of you from the Chicago area can answer. Has Steve Bartman been vindicated? Can he now come out of hiding and resume a normal life? Just wondering. Let's hear from you, Chicago land.
thanks,
Deb

I doubt he'll ever be vindicated, but he was young, caught up in the moment and simply wanted a souvenir.
Mike Everitt was also to blame. If he had made the correct call, Bartman wouldn't have been so vilified.
I finally had to go to bed when they went to rain delay, and thought I hit record on the DVR, only to find out this morning it didn't record.

Oh bummer Donna, you missed the best part. It was a little past my bed time too, but had no trouble staying awake.

Best 7th inning in history! And, all that drama including the rainout. Congrats CUBBIES from a Cardinal fan!

Re: The curse is dead, Steve Bartman vindicated?
I have been a Cubs fan all my life, one of the biggest thrills in my life was when I got to take a trip to Chicago and see Wrigley field and see the Cubs play two games there. So as are so many other Cubs fan I am overjoyed that they finally won another World Series my grandmother would be so thrilled that they won.
As to Steve Bartman he should never have been vilified to begin with and I said that the day it happened and a lot of days after that. To blame him for that one thing for the team falling apart is one of the most asinine things in the history of sports. No one is to blame but the players. Will he ever be vindicated I doubt it. Some people will never forget what happened and I doubt he can ever forget or forgive all the crap that was heaped on him afterwards for years. Partly because some sportscaster or other keeps bringing it up.

Double congrats to Cubs fans. I saw on the dinnertime news today where you folks were doing all the celebrating, parades, confetti etc. No burning of stores, no looting and no overturning of cars. You Cubs fans have shown the world that it is possible to party and still act civilized! Hats off to you!

Re: The curse is dead, Steve Bartman vindicated?
It just came over the 6:00 p m news minutes ago, STEVE BARTMAN HAS BEEN VINDICATED! Yes, all has been forgiven. The Cubs team even gave him a ring with his name on it. I saw it on the TV, it was a very large ring with lots of stones on it. Forgiveness is such a beautiful thing, isn't it? It remains to be seen if the Cubs fans will be that magnanimous and let him back into Wrigley field. He says he wants to come back, and still loves the Cubs as well as all their fans. We'll have to just wait and see, seeing as the Cubs are currently leading their division there is a strong possibility that they will at least make the playoffs. How far they will go after that of course depends strongly on "fan cooperation". (joke, joke). Just thought I'd pass along the good news.
