Hi all,
I think it was warhol that spoke of 15 minutes of fame, wasn't it ?
Anyway, as I was walking along today, I was thinking that I'm still owed my 15 minutes worth, and if I had the choice what would I do with it, educate the world ? Tell the world who I am ? Advertise something ? Hide behind the sofa ? I really don't know. It's a bit like being given one wish and not wanting to squander it.
Any ideas anybody ?
Love to all

Wow!, your right Rebecca, where is my 15 minutes, but like you I need to think about what I would do also. My initial thought would be to tell the world that "we" are probably more normal than the rest of society, that we are intelligent, well-grounded, loving providers for our families and we have a "gift" that we just want to share.

Hi Rebecca.
I guess I had my 15 minutes of fame, several times over. But the greatest was when I was 19. I got booked at Gazzarri's on the Sunset Strip for a set of our original music. It was the only time in my life I recall being nervous before a performance.
My legs were shaking uncontrolably, until about a third through the first song, then this overwhelming feeling of happiness overcame me, and it was like being in heaven. The large crowd loved our songs, and the rest of the evening we were complimented on how good we were. I will always cherish those memories.
Love always,
Elizabeth

I got 15 minutes back in 1995, when I got married. In May of 1994, I proposed to my wife at the Virginia Renaissance Festival, which was then held in Norfolk at Town Point Park on the river. We were there as members of a local medievalist group, and my character was supposed to propose to hers as part of "roleplay". Well, I decided to ask for real, and she accepted.
A couple of months later, we called Norfolk Festevents to discuss the possibility of getting married at the next Festival. We weren't looking for handouts or anything, but little did we know. A few weeks later, we got a call to come down to their office. It seems that they had been looking for a theme for the festival, and we dropped one in their lap. Our wedding became the centerpiece for 1995's Romantic Renaissance Weekend. On Saturday, we would be married in the presence of the King and Queen and the royal court. On Sunday, willing couples would be encouraged to renew their vows before the King in the garden where we were wed.
It was an interesting experience, in the Chinese sense of the word. Festevents paid nearly all the costs associated with the wedding. We only had to pay for the Marriage Commissioner who performed the ceremony, and for our own costumes, which were made by her mother. Music was provided by Iona, a Celtic trio, at no cost. The space at the Park was provided for no cost. The list goes on.
There was a story about us in The Virginian Pilot (newspaper). Another publication, Portfolio, declared our wedding their "Pick of the Week". We were married in public, and hundreds of people showed up. We were even on the local TV news, though we never got to see the story. You can see a photo from the ceremony here:

HI girls,
Elizabeth,
That's a great memory to have, Iv'e had some special moments on stage but never had a moment of the big time. I'm wondering now if you ever recorded and if so are you on any of my 7000 LP's ?
Jaye,
That is really special, WOW. What a wonderful way to be married, you must be as proud as punch. Truly memories to treasure.
Deborah,
I think I'm roughly of the same mind as you.
I think I'd like the world to know about me, who I am, what I am and show that I feel good for the world. Mind, then I wonder if that's me feeling insecure and needing to be accepted.
Then again, I could drop a hint about this site and we'd have a million new members overnight !
Love to all

Hi all,
Wow! Cool pic, Jaye! Laurels suit you!

So, you're coming up on ten years, soon, eh? Congrats! That looked like it was an awesome ceremony. Question: Is Anne still in, er, um, ah, one piece?
Warhol's indeed the one who said that everyone would eventually be famous for fifteen minutes. I'm not sure if he meant this in a positive way, though; maybe he was referring to the short-lived fame associated with notoriety. You know, "True Story" movie-of-the-week material? Texas Killer Cheerleader Moms and Australian Sex-Change Convicts... that kind of stuff.
I'll go selfish on this one and say that I'd only want to be famous with the woman I'll love and share my life with. Hopefully, it'll be for more than just fifteen minutes.
Love,
CJ
