No-one knows the exact cause of PMS, but suggested causes include:
- abnormal sensitivity to hormones - some women may be more sensitive to the normal levels of the hormone progesterone released into the blood during the second half of the menstrual cycle. One effect of over-sensititivity to progesterone is a reduced level of a brain chemical called serotonin, which is involved in controlling mood.
- nutrients - some people think that the symptoms may result from or be aggravated by variations in nutrients such as magnesium and calcium, although there is limited scientific evidence for this.
- some people think that yeast infections (such as thrush) can cause PMS.

In my case its probably caused by lack of chocolate, hugs and herbal remedies you dont find in health food shops..

Stick to a healthy balanced diet. Try to keep your blood-sugar levels constant as this will maintain energy and minimize mood swings and cravings. Also try to cut down on fat, sugar, salt and red meat in favour of cereals, leafy green vegetables and fruit.

Hey Eloise, I recall reading somewhere that chocolate is a major and necessary food group. Now where was that, maybe the Hershey's web page?

a small portion of good chocolate - the stuff with more than 70% cocoa- is actually good for your heart.

Hi TGirlz,
~
On the topic issue ... there isn't anything either interesting or knowable here on Planet Earth that can't be explained by *Solar Flares* ...
but for some bizarre reason ... probably not even known to them (except of course due to Solar Flares) ... "scientists" seem to think we "need" them to "re-explain" everything to us ...
we *could* be shopping ... or at the beach ... or doing our nails ... but *No* ... the "scientists" have to share their own unrest and sleeplessness with everybody ... and then there's the media ... they think we "need" to be "told" about everything ...
and on it goes ...
On more critical issues such as Chocolate & Ice Cream ... I'm an *Extreme Moderate*
~
Love / Marda

I don't know about you but I sure do hope the media tells us EVERYTHING instead of keeping some things to themselves.
Likewise with scientists, I'm all for their sharing their knowledge, reexplaining as they go along as needed, instead of a requirement of having to join a secret club (PhD required) to get the inside track on solar flares.
[btw, the entire universe is made up of star dust (including us). A solar flare is the Sun blowing off, yep, that's right, star dust! Everything CAN be tied to solar flares!
