To Elizabeth and Administration.

Elizabeth,

Thank you for the information you have provided in Calina's Good bye thread. That is important for me to know. I now am able to understand where you are coming from in some of your posts. I completely understand the position you have taken, and your need to do it. I still stand by the advise I have given you, but I understand. Hon you are one strong person you need to be, and I commend you for it.

Administration and Founder,

I have been very critical of sites that require registration before you can view what is being posted. I simply could not understand their reason for doing that. I wonder how many people we lose because of situations like this. Would it be possible to create a section that is private from the rest of the world where people like Elizabeth can be themselves? Is there any way that we can make it easier for these people?

Darlene,

I do try my hardest to forget I have an audience and be myself anyways. But realistically there are things I don't say because I don't want them knowing. I think I still convey my points, but it does inhibit me from being as forthright as I might be if I knew everyone was not reading and discussing what I am writing.

I have also suggested that this is a problem for our SO section also who can not speak openly because thier DH is reading.

However, I was told this site was about bringing us together, and if we can not see what the other is thinking, even if it is inhibited, than we miss our chance at understanding.

I don't know what the solution is. All I do know is that even with it's imperfections, this is still the greatest place I have ever been. And even knowing everyone is watching has not kept me from expressing my love to all of you. And to me, that is the most important thing.

Love always,

***huh***

Can you please explain what you mean about a private area so she can be her or anyone can be themselves?

Yes Beauty,

I was wondering if it might be possible to create an area that would deny access to the non registered, and any non contributing members. I don't know if one could make something like that work?

On another forum of which I'm a member, certain areas are only accessable after you've posted a certain number of times and a a registered member. It does seem to encourage people to post more and get involved in some good discussions.
And you thought I was dead.

Hi Darlene,

Yes. That's the way I have my personal forum (crossdressers-haven.com is my home though). I'm just curious about the areas that you're talking about. I only said that to show we know how to do it

What would be an area?

Are you just saying you'd rather have it locked down so the casual wanderer wouldn't see it? Here's why I ask. On average we have far more users than guests.

I'm ok with the idea I just don't see how it would help Elizabeth (example person.. sorry Elizabeth ) be freer to talk about other things?

Thanks for taking the time to explain this. :)

Thanks Beauty.

I am not worried about Elizabeth, she has come along way and will continue to grow. I wonder if there might be those who do not have what Elizabeth had to get her through this, who will not post here due to there family being able to eves drop. And if there are, is there any thing we can do to help these people. Hind sight has taught me that were I in the same position as Elizabeth there is an awful lot I would not reveal here. with my wife's family being able to read it. In my case it was used against me in court in a way that I never saw happening. But found out later when I became friends with some people who understand how the court system works especially behind the scenes.

In my case I talked to people who I trusted, who were a pipe line to my wifes family.

No I am not suggesting we exclude this forum entirely from the public. Being new to the internet I would never have come here if that were the situation and I expect there are others like me. In fact up until now I never saw a reason for such a thing. It is kind of ironic that Elisabeth would give out the link to this site in the hope of making things better only to have it used against her.

As to what kind of a section, I don't really know, perhaps an area entitled sensitive information, or private members area I am only guessing here.

Hi Darlene,

I understand now. :)

Creating that layer you're talking about won't really help conversations that someone would want to keep quiet, more hidden. Even if we have it restricted to a select list of members only.

Doing that causes additional administration that's difficult to maintain, but more importantly it doesn't really get anyone what you're talking about. All users would still be able to ask for access to that part of the site. Since they are anonymous (even with a username) we can't really limit who gets into the new area. This means that someone out to get you can still getchya! :)

Sharon and Shannon started the forum in the open format because they thought there were too many sites out there already that had a closed environment so they created this one as an open environment.

I guess the best advice I can give is that no one should post anything here that they don't want someone to find out about.

I hope this answers everything for you Darlene. It's not likely the site will add a private section sweetie.

Oh.. one more thing. I was only using Elizabeth as an example (I know she's so happy about that.. noooot ) I didn't think you were referring to her. I just continued with your example. :)

Beauty,

I did not take offense to being used as an example. And was not unhappy about it in any way.

Pardon this interjection ,

a private section for members only wouldn't work

Example : I could get onto this site on my mothers computer , join this group as a new member who we'll call XXXX and give a phony story about myself .
XXXX would be like any other member with full access to the sections

In the same way , anyone could join up as a false identity to spy on their spouse.

Hi Darlene,

You're welcome!!! :) :) :) :)

This was a really good question. I'm sure it will be asked again. It's great that you started this thread so we will have it as a reference point when someone asks this question later.
